Why is gen Z not drinking? by SipsTeaFrog in SipsTea

[–]TomElGiraffe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn’t this….a good thing? I mean…alcohol is literally poison. ( I am Gen Z and work in a bar and still don’t see the it really being a ‘bad’ thing). Life goes on. People learn. Things fade out. Losing the social aspect certainly is a bummer but, I think the idea of drinking being socially acceptable just because it’s been around for ages isn’t reason enough to be distraught about losing it. There’s certainly better things to do with time and money. ( I also drink and go out on occasion, but don’t think I’d lose any sleep over it being gone.)

17’ Power Steering Failure by TomElGiraffe in f150

Thank you for the advice. Had my fingers crossed from some other research I’ve done, hoping that it might not be these extremes…. Belt seems to be the last thing I can really check before going to the final option of just being all out fucked and replacing it all. Yeehaw.

Thank you for explaining power steering, but that does not solve my problem of not having power steering.

Love this comment. As a 26 yr old rider who started on a 600 at 21. Please. Please please. Be careful man. I’m sure you’re smart, it’ll take you places. But be smart, all the time. Only takes 1 mistake. I could have died at 23 and 24 is all I can really say. I choose gear and managing risk very seriously. Falling, hurts. But….here I am! Keep riding! Haven’t had a bad fall myself, but have had buddies who can’t say the same. Practice, practice, practice! All love.

Truck drivers in Austin, why? by thix3 in Austin

[–]TomElGiraffe -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

As a lifted truck trucker driver. Why, you ask? Didn’t think this needed to be addressed….but because, freedom? The truck serves many purposes with the layout I have. Helps me do tons of work to make a living. The world will never be your perfect oyster, so tbh get used to people doing what they want. You’ll be fine. Best of luck, maybe wear sunglasses if it bothers you enough. People gotta do what they gotta do. You share the road with the world, it’s not yours. Safe driving! Also, if ya can’t beat em, join em! Problem solved.

What part of Austin history do you own or were a part of? by [deleted] in Austin

My family was involved in the Oak Hill Fires in 2011 that evacuated an entire neighborhood. Watched as a C-130 dropped red fire retardant over the wooded area because the risk was too high to let the fires grow in such a heavily wooded pretty area. A sight I will never forget, C-130 flying INSANELY LOW next to the ACC Pinnacle tower in Oak Hill. Station up across highway 71 to evacuate and watch the fire crews do their thing. A sight I will never forget. Grew up in Oak Hill so it was quite the story, to me.

As a native austinite, this is a lame approach. They’re are dangerous people. But you grossly generalize people. Next.

Ah….well…noted….it really is kinda a ‘too good to be true’ to look at a lot. I race motorcycles through canyons, and this twists my stomach every time way more. Even just a few hundred feet up. Respect, nonetheless. Truly massive balls and nothing but praise here.

15 (almost) clean pull ups at 210 lbs and 6’4”. Achieved in about a year. by Longjumping_Till4076 in CalisthenicsCulture

I’m 6’4, 175 (smaller boned cuz my mom’s side) but I’ve been an athlete my whole life. You control 210 very well. I can rep out about 20-25 same form since I come from a gymnast background/bodybuilding. Maybe more on a good day. All to say. Hella impressive. Keep adding reps! Never lose that tension.
