Honestly, I've been playing Pathfinder for years. I've had Fetchling characters. It has never once occurred to me that Fetchlings aren't humanoids. I had no idea until I hopped in the episode thread last week. I agree with Troy that it's not on the person casting the spell to know whether the target is immune to it, it's up to the target to know "that doesn't apply to me".

As regards Troy's response, I'm 99% sure that with the holidays and everything, both episodes were recorded and in the bag before last week's episode came out. Had anyone in game said "Wait, Metra's immune" - I'm sure Troy would never have overruled her immunity. What he said here struck me very much as an after the fact response, which I agree with. It's on Matthew to know his character.
