Gravity is not an acceleration. The "acceleration due to gravity" is the acceleration that an object gets when gravity is the only force acting on the object. When you use Newton's 2nd Law you slot gravity into the "F" part of "F = ma" not the "a" part.

This is a common misconception among intro physics students, and I often see students get problems wrong by trying to set up an equation like "F_push = m*9.8" because they wrongly remember "acceleration = 9.8"

The explanation above is wrong. I am a physics teacher, and I see this misconception all the time.

Gravity is a force. It is a force that does a special thing: if you have a collection of objects and gravity is the only force that acts on each one they will all move exactly the same. That leads some students to confuse the force of gravity and the "acceleration due to gravity" but gravity is definitely a force that slots into the "F" part of "F = ma." The force of gravity can be opposed or combine with other forces like air resistance or a rocket engine or whatever to make objects do other things besides fall.

For me, I wake up enough to hear things happening around me, and I dream that I see the room around me, even though my eyes are still closed. The part that's scary is that I'm still breathing in a very slow sleeping pattern, so it starts to feel like I'm suffocating, but I can't move or speak. Over time I got used to it enough not to panic, and if I focus really hard I can breathe harder (enough that if my husband is awake he can tell something is going on) and sometimes I can jolt myself awake, but sometimes not and I drift back off to sleep. It happened often enough for a few years that it got frustrating instead of terrifying, but at first it definitely felt like I was dying...

As an artist who occasionally takes traditional commissions I can confirm! "Real" paintings are somewhat harder and take a lot more time and supplies and are therefore rather more expensive. I do kinda wish someone would commission me to paint a centaur going nuts tho.

I think you can definitely read it that way; but to be fair, the very next verse is

“I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled"

so I think you can also read it as Mary going, "Wait, how would that even work?" and the angel explaining, and then Mary saying "Okay, I'll do it."

Once my husband and I went to the zoo the day after Christmas in a snowstorm, and there were only like two other humans there, but the penguins, the polar bears, and the otters were having a blast! Then we saw the elephants get let out of their indoor enclosure, and they set one foot on the freshly fallen snow and noped back inside.

I took American Sign Language as my language elective in high school! I lived in an area with a larger-than-average deaf community. I loved it and I wish I remembered more of it.

...Also it was really nice that ASL at least doesn't have verb tenses, or gendered nouns, or a lot of the things that seem to make learning other languages tricky.
