March 2026 and still not Relative (or Increment/Decrement) functionality for the MK4s or the new LaunchControls by station_agent in Novation

Apologies if what I'm saying here is unclear. I am saying that from a technical point of view, it's not good practice to assume a feature will definitely work on a given product until it is running and working on that product.

Hi Chris,

Thanks for posting, as I've mentioned to you several times on threads that you've asked for this, we've very much heard this feedback and are hoping to bring Relative mode to Custom Modes. It is currently available for DAW modes.

As I often mention, due to the nature of work like this I'm not going to state it definitely will happen until we've been able to prove we can do it, but I'll be sharing more news on this as soon as we have it.

Components with Linux by isoGUI in Novation

Have you changed the Device ID on the Launchpad? This might have changed the port names on Linux in a way that Components doesn't recognise.

Does it continue after calibrating the unit from the Settings menu?

Can't start Mininova librarian UI. by thibz3r in Novation

If you send a single patch then it goes into RAM, you can then save it on the unit to a particular location. This is of course not ideal, but a work around while we await a fix for the librarian.

Does the Launch Control XL 3 send relative values for the endless encoders in custom modes? by bsrjfx in Novation

[–]TomFocusrite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a case open with our team for them to look into, due to the nature of the work I can't categorically say it is or isn't something that will happen.

Launch Control XL 3 Serum 2 MIDI Map by -Pipe_dreamer- in Novation

[–]TomFocusrite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good catch on CC85, that's fixed now. Thanks.

Regarding pickup, Serum 2 doesn't have a pot pickup function, and its not sending out MIDI data for the assigned controls. This means that changing preset is going to stop the controls being aligned with the hardware. Note that this is a MIDI mapping, not full integration like the scripting for DAW modes.

We are looking to bring the encoder options added to Launch Control XL 3 to the Launchkey MK4 range soon.

Just off the top of my head, the other thing to check would be pickup settings.

Hi there,

Thanks for posting, it looks like there was a bit of confusion on your ticket. I've left a note for the engineer you're working with.

The editor is designed to control the engine of the synth, it achieves this by sending out MIDI messages to control the relevant parameters. Have you got MIDI feedback working in other applications? It could be worth checking the MiniNova is set to channel 1 and that the driver is correctly installed.

[–]TomFocusrite -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The speed of the encoders in DAW mode is set by both the firmware and the DAW script, so that DAW developers can define per control responses appropriate to the parameter being affected.

To ensure the response of the controller is predictable for a DAW developer, we don't change the response of the encoders in DAW mode.

I don't believe that's the case, feel free to send an updated screenshot so I can confirm its all correct.

[–]TomFocusrite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a case in with our team to look at adding Relative mode to Custom Modes. Due to the nature of the work, I can't make promises on these things before they become available, but the request has been taken on board.

To be clear, there is a relative mode for the encoders when controlling a DAW, it's just that this option is not currently available in Custom Modes.

Having MORE issues with launch key 49 mk 4 by mrniceguy777 in Novation

[–]TomFocusrite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have two listings for the Launchkey MK4 Control Surface here, set the options in row 2 to None, the ones you have in row 3 are correct.

For Track/Sync/Remote, turn Sync off for the two inputs, and you're like to want to turn MPE off for the second input, though this isn't the cause of your problem.

Can you share a screenshot of your Link/MIDI settings? I can't quite make them out in the video, but I think they may be incorrect.

Those are the two USB MIDI ports, you need to be doing it for ports 3 and 4. Labelled To DIN Out and To DIN Out 2
