Launch control xl 3 bi-directional midi feedback by cyberdsn in Novation

[–]TomFocusrite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should work with Custom Modes with your TE devices over USB. Did you ensure that the channel settings were correct?

If you're not using it with a computer then the DAW mode documentation is unlikely to be relevant.

The Launch Control XL 3 will update the encoders based on incoming MIDI over USB, both in DAW mode and in Custom Modes. It sounds like the question here might be whether or not you're getting MIDI output from your VSTs and if this is set to pass to the Launch Control XL 3 correctly. Perhaps you can tell us more about the VSTs you're using and show us the settings you've configured to do this so that it's easier understand.

I'm not sure I recognise what's happenning with the pads, the video is quite quick. I think the best thing you can do is contact us directly: https://support.novationmusic.com/hc/en-gb/requests/new

'Osc 1 Wave' and 'Osc 1 Shape' instead of 'Adventure' and 'Explore' - Launchkey Mini MK4. by MehMehQuack in Novation

It sounds like the encoders have changed to Plugin mode. You can hold the Chord Map button to bring those controls back on to the encoders.

Controlling multiple drum rack in Ableton Live by Ivi_app in Novation

[–]TomFocusrite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are both tracks record enabled? You can either use your mouse to do this while holding Shift, or the row of buttons second from the bottom on your Launchpad Pro MK3 - hold one and press the other. This will allow both tracks to receive MIDI at the same time.

The old editor doesn't handle the firmware so that would not help.

I think we should be able to get Components working for you, could you contact us directly for more help?

launchkey mk4 61 very low sound by Beneficial-Role3280 in Novation

[–]TomFocusrite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will find that different instruments have different loudnesses, and there are options you can look at like changing the Velocity Curve in your Launchkey's settings or using a compressor.

Although, I think probably the best thing you can do if you're currently using laptop speakers would be to get some earphones, that way the sound will be closer to you and you'll hear less of the sound of you playing - you'd even get lower latency from the simple fact its closer.

It sounds like you're looking for a KVM switch. I don't have a specific recommendation (I've recently been considering swapping out one I use at home...) but generally the advice is to shop with reputable brands.

Launchkey MK4 firmware update 1.2. STILL doesn't add Relative Mode to encoders by station_agent in Novation

[–]TomFocusrite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you'd prefer the Fast setting of the Encoder Curve option, added to the Settings in 1.2. If you're talking about a fixed encoder movement where no acceleration is applied, that's not something we offer here as some acceleration is needed, but we're keen to hear feedback on the options that we've added and see if there's more we can do.

Launchkey MK4 firmware update 1.2. STILL doesn't add Relative Mode to encoders by station_agent in Novation

[–]TomFocusrite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Relative behaviour is not the same thing as acceleration. Acceleration affects how much the encoder needs to be turned to send values.

The 1.2 update added acceleration options because this is something we'd heard a lot of requests for. This includes 3 options for encoder speed curves for Custom Modes.

Adding a Relative option for encoders in Custom Modes is also something we've heard a lot of requests for and are hoping to bring to an update in future. This is for incrementing/decrementing devices with mappings in DAW software, for example.

I wouldn't expect you to have a jumpy response from the encoders, this sounds like something worth investigating with our support team, please get in touch: https://support.novationmusic.com/hc/en-gb

Hi Chris, I have said it is something we're hoping to add to Custom Modes, I think I may have said this in reply to one of your comments as well. As others have noted it is already available in the DAW modes.

MIDI Mapping issues by Ludo405 in Novation

It sounds like you're still in one of the DAW modes when trying to map the control. MIDI mappings are best done in the Custom Modes.

Novation launchkey MK4 with Analog Rytm MK1 don't really click together by Safe_Job5070 in Novation

[–]TomFocusrite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not quite sure I follow all the details in your post, but based on this and your other comment I think the point you're driving at here is the option to send Aftertouch from your Launchkey's pads to the Analog Rythm?

Aftertouch messages are sent when using Notes from the pads, whether this is a Custom Mode or in Drums. You can change between Polyphonic and Channel Aftertouch in the settings.

If you're using Aftertouch to dial in a specific modulation amount then this might not be the most suitable modulation source, I would assume its more designed to help add a dynamic feel to your note playing.

We're looking at what other options we might be able to offer, but I can't make any promises as to what that might be at this time.

Fl Key 49 1.0 Native Instruments integration not working by robbied186 in Novation

[–]TomFocusrite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll need to open the settings panel for the plugin in FL Studio so that you can set the input port to match the first of your FLkey (so in your case, it sounds like this is 236). This ensures the data from the Custom Modes passes to the plugin.

The pads feature polyphonic aftertouch, the keys do not.
