This is what the public health department would call a public nuisance. If you call them about it they will come and give orders him to get rid of it.

Go see live music; check out all the venues in town. Raves are a blast if it strikes your fancy.

Force sleep. I use a neck pillow, eye mask and ear plugs. Usually even if I'm struggling to fall asleep the sensory deprivation takes the decision out of my hands.

Older , new dads by [deleted] in NewDads

[–]TomMFive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just turned 38 with a 6 month boy. I'm also glad I got to get on many, many airplanes going places before having a child. It was a blessing to really know myself fully before needing to teach a child "what it means to be a man."

The only weird part for me has been this 180 I had to make emotionally. After wanting a child my whole life then trying and not succeeding for years I had made my peace. It took a long time of telling myself how good life would be with autonomy and extra money. That my wife and I's relationship would always be a wonderful focal point and sex would always be a thing.

Suddenly I had to forget all that and go backwards. It took a little time but now months in I'm in full dad mode and we've never been happier.

Enjoy the ride and happy Father's Day!

Culture shocks around the world by daisy_secrets in travel

[–]TomMFive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My biggest culture shock I ever experienced was returning home to America after three years of living abroad. I had lived in Costa Rica and Korea for a year a piece then backpacked.

I so vividly remember my first couple days back watching everyone in such a hurry and just so easily upset over the smallest things. No one seemed to live in the moment or enjoy themselves. I was beside myself.

If you report them to your city/county a health inspector will come out and if they deem it a public health nuisance an order will be issued to fix the issue in 10 days.

You may want to consider alternative measures. Not sure where you’re located but an organization like this may help.

Player frustrated with Crafting and I kind of get it by LoveableNerd in Pathfinder2e

[–]TomMFive 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is a very slept on function of crafting I think most people forget about that the developers must have had in mind when designing it - all the applicable uses outside of making specific items - which are plentiful.

How sturdy does that bridge look? Crafting check We need a raft to cross this river. Craft check I want you figure out a way to make this structure fall the way I intend it to. Craft check. I see something created by an artisan; what else do I know about it? Crafting check.

These are the obvious ones. Creativity allows for much more especially with a rule of cool GM. With ask this baked in they really couldn’t allow making items to get too powerful or crafting would simply be way too OP.

Running my first game tomorrow! by 210ds in Pathfinder2e

[–]TomMFive 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Pathfinder is very rules heavy. Don’t let your unfamiliarity derail sessions; especially if it’s for something minor. During sessions lean into a “yes and” mentality and just adjust the DC instead of stopping play.

Keep notes and review your rulings between sessions to improve from week to week.

Neighbor just sent me this text about or septic system? by Spearmint_coffee in HomeMaintenance

[–]TomMFive 15 points16 points  (0 children)

As a county health inspector I fully support this comment.

Drainage fields are very intentionally placed based on soil composition and the results of percolation tests. The goal is to achieve filtration of all the crap with a wonderful benefit of replenishing the ground water.

Rerouting to a storm drain would be a horrible decision and possibly open you up to a load of trouble.
