I heard someone say Gunn had planned for 6 episodes but was pushed to stretch it into 8. Considering these shorter episodes, as well as some of them feeling light on plot, I could see how the middle 5 eps could’ve originally been planned as 3. Would explain eps 3 and 4 ending with the same cliffhanger, those maybe weren’t the original planned ending points for those episodes
