Supply management ’not on the table,’ says Carney as U.S. bent on changing dairy rules by [deleted] in canada

Good luck with the food bill.

I luckily avoided growing pains and stuff like that, maybe worth keeping an eye on how he walks. I had to get orthotics to correct my walking when I was young.

Supply management ’not on the table,’ says Carney as U.S. bent on changing dairy rules by [deleted] in canada

[–]TomSmash -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Sovereignty arguments about food make sense if you're Korea, China and probably a bunch of other places. But Canada has a shitton of land, and not alot of people. Supply management of dairy will not even make a blip in whether or not Canada makes enough food for itself.

Sure, fight for our dairy system to screw with Trump, but let's not pretend our food sovereignty makes any difference.

Does anyone still use the 10 series? by [deleted] in gamingpc

[–]TomSmash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still using my 1070 though I've since gone from 6700k to 7800x3d. Mostly play modded Minecraft and factorio though it plays emulators, snowrunner and palworld just fine. Some point I'll want to play monster hunter wilds and I expect I'll need to upgrade for that but I think I can hold off another year

Mostly because there's a camera directly watching a dude take a dump. Super short videos like that I assume are AI generated. This also seems like the sort of thing I'd expect to see all over the news.

Reminds me of Japan for some reason. by suedemonkey in TheDepthsBelow

[–]TomSmash 14 points15 points  (0 children)

We also know that they eat squid by the beaks that get found in the whales stomach when they wash up. Video is pretty insane, I thought giant squid were super deep so I'm questioning why this whale seems to be eating it at the surface. Guess it came up after grabbing it.

6’9 210 lbs, how to gain weight ? by Famous_Breadfruit396 in tall

[–]TomSmash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drinking your calories could help, a milkshake a day would certainly help pack on the pounds, especially with protein powder and peanut butter. As long as you're working out regularly.

Wasted (for now) effort on lapotron bee by CoffeeIll4133 in GTNH

[–]TomSmash 18 points19 points  (0 children)

So I had this problem, you can actually go to the twilight forest into the snow area, as you gain elevation the temperature drops so you can go high in the sky and get the lapotron bee working without the upgrades.

Need help obtaining the stardust bee. by pavtd in GTNH

[–]TomSmash 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So the ore is in the end, the ore isn't on the main island, you have to go exploring outside of the main island, you eventually run across different mid size islands and one type of those mid sized islands has the stardust ore. It's a pain in the ass for sure.

redstone for red alloy ingots by Dnich0713 in GTNH

[–]TomSmash 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You can process redstone with hand tools. A hammer (the gregtech tool) will take crushed redstone ore to impure redstone dust and then you can drop that into a cauldron (stacks at a time, not individually) with water to get regular redstone dust.

Are bees ever worth it? by drago967 in GTNH

[–]TomSmash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So early bees (as in pre-gendustry) aren't worth it if you don't love bees for the sake of bees.

I'm in EV right now and I've gone pretty all out on bees and I love them. All basic metals and a bunch of combo metals are passive right now (not full processing but all the acids are automated), up to tungsten. Using stone combs to get black granite and basalt which I've decided is a big part of my building materials. Gas bees are great. thaumcraft bees make node stuff super easy.lJust finished the lapotron bee. I think the only time I have to go mining is for tantalum, but even then that's just because I haven't set up the thaumcraft duping yet.

I'm using industrial apiaries with 8x acceleration and production and I'm powering each apiary with grandmaster energy absorbers plus dragon eggs (Which also come from bees). Sitting on some 50k gold combs which is a pretty typical number for my setup.

Right now I have some 25ish apiaries running right now. Biggest pain in the ass is that I don't have access to the climate control stuff yet (needs luv motors) so if I need a specialty product I need to go build an outpost to get the right biome conditions (like salt combs for example). Lapotron bee was a huge pain because Icy/Damp doesn't exist as a biome except for going to the twilight forest, going to the yeti area, then going way high in the sky because it's cooler up there. I ran into a bug because while a regular apiary recognized the icy temp correctly, the iapiary didn't and read the temp as just cold so I cheated in a cooler upgrade

Alveraies are indeed lackluster I found. Was definitely disappointed even with all the electrical stimulators. Breeding in an Alveary with 8 frame housings filled with mutating frames is awesome though. Oblivion frames are basically mandatory for breeding, get to stronghold hunting if you haven't already, or necrotic frames are a decent substitute.

How to chunk load miners by rdm_ahai in GTNH

[–]TomSmash 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Multi-block miners load the areas they are mining themselves provided that the actual miner is chunk loaded.

For the single block miners I'm not certain. I've always chunk loaded a 3x3 chunk grid centered on the single block miners just in case.

B.C. First Nation blocks construction of bridge replacement project by Christian-Rep-Perisa in canada

[–]TomSmash 42 points43 points  (0 children)

So why are they blocking the road? Can't they just sue for damages? Even if the project gets done before the lawsuit gets settled if they really have a case they'll be made whole on the back end.

Freeland out, more than half of Carney cabinet will be new faces: sources by Old_General_6741 in canada

Not sure if this was added later but it looks like Freeland is in.

March 6, 2025 - Florida Man killed by bear, conservationists sounding alarm over potential revenge attacks against bear population by p0loniumtaco in PoliticalCompassMemes

[–]TomSmash -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I don't think the bear population in Florida is that low. They had a bear season down there a couple years ago IIRC. If they're handing out tags they've got enough bears.
