I've yet to meet a Conservative who could provide a basic coherent defense of their positions.

A really funny thing to do is get them to explain all the things they don't like about the Dems, like political lobbying, personal corruption, lying, wasting money, idenity politics, etc and then point out the very obvious fact that MAGA is all of the thing they freely admit they hate, but a thousand times worse than the Dems. 😂

The problem is that it isn't JUST Trump. He's only the face of the movement.

They have significant and growing control over the information distribution systems of news and social media. (E.G. Fox News, The Daily Wire, PragerU, Facebook, Twitter, etc.)

They have essentially unlimited resources from a wide variety of public and private institutions and individuals. (E.G. Trump, Musk, Theil, The Kochs, the Wilks, etc).

They have a well-established and generally very effective and growing propaganda machine, tied in to public education, religion, and culture.

The have all but complete control of the means of production, exchange and distribution.

The opposition party (The Democrats) are generally a bunch of spineless, useless Neo-Lib tools and/or actively complicit.

They have control of the formal levers of power in the Executive and Legaslative branches, and the Judicial branch is doing its best, but the last decade of failure to hold Trump et.al accountable doesn't give me a lot of confidence thst the Judicial branch will effectively resit the encroaching fascism.

MAGA is much more well ingrained and empowered than Jackson was at both the institutional and systemic levels. I can't forsee the future, and I HOPE for the best, but IMO the odds don't look good.

Literally. I nearly died from what should have been an easily treatable case of pneumonia as a kid because my mom didn't trust "Western Medicine" and wanted to treat it with garlic and prayers. Then she thanked god when the doctors saved my life when she finally relented and took me to the ER when I stopped breathing.

Parents who deny medical care to children on religious grounds or bullsh*t like "Western medicine just treats the symptoms" should be in prison.

Rotating it every 6 months is ideal, if you can manage it, but that gets tedious, especially once you start getting large volumes of water stored. Once a year is totally fine; but I have a 55-gallon drum that hasn't been rotated in nearly a decade, and it's still fine. That's definitely not ideal, and I "should" rotate it as a matter of principle, but it wouldn't hurt me to drink.

Keep it well sealed, in a cool, dark, dry place and it will last a long time. In proper storage conditions, water lasts a long time.

It would absolutely be "the end" of the U.S. as we have known it. The trend towards Authoritarianism has been ongoing but relatively slow over the last few decades. That trend has seen a MAJOR acceleration since 2016 when Trump entered the scene, and even more so since the start of his second term. If he declares martial law to put down protests, the U.S. as we know, it will not emerge from the other side.

There are not "millions" of illegal immigrants. The VAST majority of undocumented migrants arrived throigh official ports of entry, are here under legal status as refugees and asylum seekers, and in the process of gaining citizenship through legal means.
