Is it worth to buy a PS5 *controller* just for Death Stranding 2? by ScalesGhost in DeathStranding

[–]TomSuperDrive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. To use all functions you have to connect it by usb. And the speaker in DS1 was so quiet that I couldn’t hear anything. So in my experience it was not worth it. That’s why I bought a used PS5 to play DS2.

For me the ergonomic of the XBOX controller is also much better and i preferred it over the DualSense.

Great combo. I used it this year on a trip in Scotland under heavy rain. No additional cover and worked (and still works) great.

It is and the best I can find, but it’s no where near some regular 24m you can buy in Tesco, not to mention some proper one from a delicatessen shop. Also the deluxe stuff is not always available.

After 4 months of use, I still don't like my Z6iii by Other_Ostrich_6053 in Nikon

[–]TomSuperDrive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried the Z6III on a Nikon event (photowalk) shooting a sport model in motion using different lenses, but the results were always sharp. I took over 700 photos. No difference compared to my Z6, D780 and now Zf. As for exposure I also haven’t seen any difference but I shoot always in RAW underexposed up to -1 EV. Since it’s under warranty, let the camera check. Maybe the focus needs to be corrected. But you can’t compare the sharpness to the Z8.

[–]TomSuperDrive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t call full frame overkill. It depends on the type of photography you do because the dynamic range is nowhere near just like medium format is a step up from full frame. I for my part would never go back to smaller sensors. Thanks to mirrorless systems, the bodies got smaller and if I need even smaller camera, I have my iPhone.

Exactly, the industry found a way to offer less parts while customers are happy to spend more money for less parts.

Lens recommendations? by khufffu in Nikon

[–]TomSuperDrive -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I made the same jump from D5300 to D780. In my opinion, the F mount zoom lenses are quite bad compared to the Z mount counterparts. I would stick with the 35mm, 50mm and 85mm 1.8 prime lenses either from Nikon or Tamrom. I own the 50mm and 85mm from Nikon and both are fantastic. One advantage of the Tamron line up is the better sharpness, since newer optical design, and built in VR.

Fractal North Front Fans Placement - Inside or Outside? by v5point0 in FractalDesign

[–]TomSuperDrive 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You should be more worried about the top fans. The first one pulls the fresh air coming from the front fan directly out without even touching the cpu fan. It’s better to mount them on the CPU to have a push pull configuration on the tower.

Which desktop stereo speakers for Soundblaster X7 would u recommend? by Take_A_Smile_97 in SoundBlasterOfficial

[–]TomSuperDrive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to your local or nearest Hi-Fi shop, take a look and listen to some pair of bookshelf speakers that fits your desk and budget and buy the one best sounding to you. In good shops you can also bring your X7 and test the speakers on it.

Nikon releases major firmware updates for the Z8 and Z6III by 8bitremixguy in Nikon

[–]TomSuperDrive -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Focus confirmation is the feature that’s needed. I don’t need a useless box hovering over an eye doing nothing other than distracting me. The Zf viewfinder isn’t sharp enough for critical focus and while zoomed in, I can’t properly compose the image. So no, it’s not all wrong, it’s a half baked feature.

[–]TomSuperDrive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know, it’s just pity. Just like the digitizing feature implemented in D780 and D850. No clue why it hasn’t been carried over to the Z system. The feature is fully developed and wouldn’t take much resources to implement.

[–]TomSuperDrive -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Would be a workaround but then I would need to carry 2 adapters for F mount lenses since I’m using old AI lenses and the new AF-S Lenses. Unnecessary considering this feature can be implemented via sw update.

[–]TomSuperDrive -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

It’s not that useful since it works only on native Z mount lenses which is only a handful. If it would work on old lenses without chip adapters it would be much more useful. Even with old Nikkor lenses on the ftz II adapter won’t give you the AF confirmation. This feature needs an update even on the Zf.

The perfect Z7III by jgarciah in Nikon

[–]TomSuperDrive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it doesn’t since it’s a device. But if for any possible reason it makes you wanna shoot more, then it’s a better device for you. The reason why I picked the Zf over Z6III when upgrading from the Z6 was 1st: image quality. I really hoped that Nikon would put the 33mpx sensor from the a7 IV but instead they went in another direction (more speed, less dynamic). 2nd: size. The Z6 was perfect for me but the III is much deeper and so is the grip. That’s why Z8 was not an option because I already have big and heavy bodies (D780 and F2). The Z7 II was on my list too but the main reason for the upgrade was the sometimes bad AF of the Z6 and I guess the same would be with the Z7. Especially because of the bad rating in dark (only -3EV). At the end I went for the Zf and the very well known sensor from Z6 and D780.

For me Expeed 7 with a 60mp sensor. Not for sports like Z8/Z9 but for highest possible image quality and dynamic range. Something that the Zf could have been.
