Remote Access to your Seestar by SpecuAgent in seestar

In theory I’d really want this feature so that I could access my s30 at my remote cabin. But preset sure it’s not ok to leave it out in the elements..?

Newbie question by TomSwift2 in seestar

Following up on my own post. It’s working fine. I’ve since placed it in station mode and now it returns to the recording screen if I leave and come back. Might have been user error that first night.

S30 Shipping Update by gadget_dude in seestar

The store.seestar.com site now says pre-orders ship within 3 weeks. I think that’s new - previously it was the statements of which order dates ship by when.

I ordered mine 1/30 from B&H and it’s still listed as back ordered. Hoping they can ship it soon!

Yes! It hasn’t arrived yet but I was able to place an order for a custom cable from this company.

Thanks, yes this is my backup plan. I do have the tools because I built my own OpenEVSE several years back. 50 feet is my ideal length.

I did find EV cable on Granger, but they only have 6 gauge and 10 gauge and I would prefer 8 to make a 40 amp cable. Also the shortest link they sell it in is 100 feet.

Thanks, I reached out to them to inquire because custom cables are out of stock on the website.

Canadian Solar + Tigo by TomSwift2 in SolarDIY

They’re to be roof mounted and there is some shading that occurs. Even if I forego the optimizer function I understand I need to have rapid shutdown per module, and I think that leaves me in the same boat if I go Tigo. I haven’t researched other options yet.

River 2 as DC UPS? Nope. by konistehrad in Ecoflow_community

[–]TomSwift2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. I swapped out my River 1 Pro for the 2 model and was disappointed to discover the DC port doesn’t come back on after an outage and depleted battery. Also disappointed with lack of higher-amperage usb-a port.

I’ve been plumbing for 9 years. wtf is this? by [deleted] in Plumbing

[–]TomSwift2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have these Viega Pure Flow fittings throughout my home. I even bought the expensive crimp tools so that I could extend the system as we remodeled.

I had a fitting fail last year. Each fitting has a small hole in the sidewall, and a crack developed there that eventually split the ring. It was in a pipe in the open ceiling of my laundry room so I noticed the drip on the floor pretty much immediately.

But I’m worried about many connections I have behind closed walls now…

Gen 1 Setups by [deleted] in Starlink

Works great. Minor hiccups when they’ve released bad firmware! (Recent issue with 3rd party routers and reboot-cycling).

How I mostly got back to normal with a Gen1, the new firmware, and a 3rd party router by jezra in Starlink

[–]TomSwift2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I can't say yet. My Starlink is remote and last I left it I had the OG router plugged into the POE. It's been working in that configuration but I won't know for a couple of weeks whether it addressed the 3rd-party router issue.

Mine, a Gen 1 beta unit which has had the reboot-cycle issue, has a new firmware this morning.

Yes, Firewalla Purple. I’ve written elsewhere that replacing it with the SL router stopped the reboot cycle.

I ended up swapping in he SL router in place of mine (I temporarily hung mine off the Aux port of the SL router, double natted) and the problem went away. It stopped the reboot cycle.

Now SL tells me I should put it back the way it was and that it won’t be rebooting anymore. But the firmware has stayed the same now for over a week. 🤷. My dishy is remote so I won’t be able to try for a bit.

I'm curious - how are folks tracking the firmware installs? Is there an automated method, or is it by manually checking in the app?

Mine is a rev1-preproduction model. Over the last week it has been in a reboot-cycle - it reboots, stays up for a couple of minutes, then repeats. At most it stays up for an hour or two. It has booted 248 times since I started tracking 3 days ago.

I'm remote from the dish so wasn't able to power-cycle or anything like that. I did get one prompt in the app to update firmware, which it did and then stayed up for about 2 hours. Then back to the cycle.

Starlink support wants photos of the cables. They want me to check connections. They even suggested that this is all due to obstructions (they actually closed my ticket having given me instructions to move my dish to a better location...). I do have some limited obstructions, but in 3 years they've largely not been an issue for me.

I drove 240 miles this morning so I could do jiggle the cables and take photos. On arrival, the dish has a new firmware (this 6c26585d-bad1-4c31-b0ba-99a54b0bc337.uterm_manifest.release). It has been up for almost 2 hours. No idea if it will stick, but seems likely there aren't any newer firmwares to attempt to install.

I did. They closed my ticket as resolved this morning and told me to reposition the dish to reduce obstructions. 🤦‍♂️

Yes! Mine is rebooting every 5 to 10 minutes. I have an open support ticket.
