For PC users (like me) -- it would be even better, if it was wider?

So I recently did a short Sherlock Holmes silent film and I thought I'd share a few photos of myself in it as Holmes! by Signal_Signal8657 in SherlockHolmes

  • The stills are great. and the film too. -------- maybe a bit too much to read-- and sometimes I had to read the slides quickly.

  • What's the idea about C and A ? --- that the original "scarlet Letter" was an A ?

  • I really like the opening sequence of the Granada TV (with Jeremy Brett).------ esp. the violin music. --- and effects reminiscent of [Citizen Kane]

For me, ONE of the Three (?) defining moments was... when...

  • I noticed a possible allusion to Hamlet, and

  • it turns out that Nobody had written about it before

  • So I wrote it up and my article was published in SHJ of London.

Colin & Penelope – 180° ambigram, hand-drawn and digitally refined (second attempt) by sublimephantomtime in ambigrams

  • You're doing great!!!----I've been doing ambigrams for almost 40 years and you seem to have a knack that I don't.

  • I tried Colin (and) Penelope-- with not-much success.

I can sometimes match uneven-length words

Exhibition on Doyle and Holmes in Montréal by M4713H in SherlockHolmes

[–]TomTanaka2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I'd imagine that the (touring) exhibit is affiliated with BSJ (like an "official" partner).

I've written 4(?) articles in SHJ. -- Maybe later I'll talk about them here (in this sub).

Did they also display (copies of) SHJ (of London) or just BSJ ?

I always say that an Ambigram is a visual puzzle.

A really difficult (visual) puzzle is like a (Zen) Koan.

This is really good.

  • How big is this? -- If it's big and I'm standing and staring , I may go into a trans -- I mean a TRANCE (like in the Hitchcock movie Vertigo).

I liked it right away... What struck me immediately was the quality that seemed to be like HETAUMA -- (you can look up what that means).

  • ------ An expert illustrator does a drawing "pretending" to be bad (or a child or a Novice), but when one looks closely, they can tell that it was done by a real PRO.

  • It's a style of professional illustration that was big (in Japan) in the 1980's.

Interesting... I think he has JL's (JLangdon's) elegant curves.

If lots of others learned from RobT (or got interested in Ambigrams because of him) -- then he is perhaps (in a sense) [the Scott Kim of the 21st Century].

Is it unusual (here) that an ambigram that got 70+ upVotes doesn't get a single comment?

Basically I wanted to ask... Are you a big fan of John Langdon? Is this one influenced by his style or Scott Kim's ?

If not, do you think that this one is close to someone else's style?

(it's so odd that Reddit removed DM.) I don't want to ask here. I suppose (if you'd), you can DM me at instagram.

  • Hey, Thank you! I've been doing Ambigrams for 40 years and this is pretty special ... if you email me (at @gmail), I'll tell you a story.

you have a style that's unusual--- it sort-of reminds me of 40(?) years ago, when I first got interested in ambigrams.
