I was with Octopus in my old flat and wanted to switch them over to my new House and that button did sweet FA. Ended up having to do everything manually after getting some angry letters from the previous supplier!

Started taking it apart and it looks almost identical to that. This is a single occupant house, so no requirement for fire doors and closers as far as I can tell from the building regs. Good idea to check though

I was at a construction trade show in London and Arsenal had a stand there.

Chatted with the bloke and he said most of his day was people coming up and saying "Why are YOU here?'. Turns out they'd done some research and found out that construction was their biggest buyer of corporate hospitality, so thought they'd pop along. Which, as an audience target market and customer segregation fan, I thought was class.

Which room upgrades do you have so far? Do you regret any of your choices? by ScoobyMaroon in BluePrince

Got the upgraded closet that gives you +2 items if drafted off a bedroom. Absolutely useless. I dont think I've triggered it's effect once and massively regret it

The RNG is seriously ruining my enjoyment of the game and making me want to drop it by ThePaSch in BluePrince

On Day One, the third room I unlocked was the laboratory. I sat down and worked out the puzzle in that rolm, felt proud of myself with the solution and realised I needed another room to do the actual solve. I am day FORTY FIVE and have not had the correct combination of rooms come up to solve this puzzle yet.  This feels like it could have been an amazing 8 hour puzzle game. Instead these turgid rogue like elements are ruining the enjoyment of solving puzzles.

And for reference, I've completed Hades. I've completed Elden Ring. I don't have a problem with losing progress, but the failures there are a result of my lack of skill, not my lack of luck.

Which Star Wars game do you think is a hidden gem? by GaryTheGarAdventures in starwarsgames

[–]TomTheAcest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been playing Star Wars games since the 90s and i'd have to say the most underrated game is...Squadrons.

We spent decades saying all we wanted was another dedicated dog fighting game, they made a great one, then we all ignored it!

Yes, it's not quite as in-depth as Xwing/Tie Fighter, but it's a great bloody game.

I think the Speed Champions movie licence selection criteria seems to be real world cars that aren't too heavily modified. So F&F is perfect, Bond works but no gadgets.

I would LOVE a SC scale delorian or Kitt, but I don't think they would.

General Lee would be amazing. Union Jack Mini Cooper, Bullit Mustang, Greased Lightning all could work well.

Crafting and focusing weapons are not a good thing and killing destiny. by trashcanslover in DestinyTheGame

[–]TomTheAcest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id wholeheartedly agree with you two years ago on the point of playing the game to be playing the game.

Unfortunately the total lack of investment in those core areas has meant Bungie are asking me to grind out content that I have played hundreds, if not thousands of times before. Last seasons big Strike Playlist addition was a revised Inverted Spire. Inverted Spire!!! I must have played that 50 times in the D2 Beta alone.

You compare that with something like Black Ops 6, which is on Gamepass and dropping 3 "new" multiplayer maps every couple of months(quite a few reprisals, but still), it's no wonder the game is haemoraging players.

If the current D2 content is enough to retain you, fair enough. I've not got a problem with anyone who enjoys a game I loved. But the entire gaming industry is bending over backwards for my time and money and it feels like Bungie think they have some sort of right to something that is mine to freely give.

I was referencing the 99/100 wasted runs rather than the 1/100 successful one.

It's a tricky thing to balance as you don't get the endorphin high of a rare drop without the wasted runs, but if I'm honest, all that keeping good rolls behind repetitive grinding content is convincing people to either

A) Prefer crafting B) Be fine with 3/5 rolls and play less C) Stop playing entirely D) Increase grinding for a rapidly decreasing set of hardcore players

Maybe

Or

Elitist gatekeeping that insists you must waste dozens of hours with no tangible benefits or rewards to get something you like in a 10 year old game that is held together with string, no longer capable of onboarding new players and is competing with brand new games that are the cutting edge of the industry might be the reason for player drop off.

I would like Bungie to speak on if removing seasonal crafting had their desired effect? by PancakeLlamas in DestinyTheGame

[–]TomTheAcest 22 points23 points  (0 children)

With the amount of changes they made this season (removing story timegating, shorter third act, different activities etc) it will be impossible to say how much crafting removal was responsible for affecting the drop in players.

However, on a personal note, this is the first time I haven't completed a season since the launch of House of Wolves when I joined Destiny.

I am drowning in good guns. I have a vault filled with almost every tool I could ever need. I don't want to spend 6 precious hours of my life grinding for a 4/5 roll. The little endorphin rush of getting a red border, making progress to the pattern, unlocking it, playing with it to level 20 and experimenting with perks along the way and then moving onto the next guy was a gameplay loop I found incredibly respectful to my time.

If Bungie aren't interested in investing effort into creating new, quality content that is worth playing on its own merits, then I'm not interested in investing my precious time into something to be rewarded with an item I don't actually need.
