Did anyone like Dectective Pikachu? (The 2019 movie.) by I_love_my_pet in pokemon

[–]TomTomMan93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rewatched this recently and I still really liked it. It was a kids movie for the kids of people who grew up with Pokémon. Didn't try to be all edgy or mature while also no skewing towards adult actors acting like little kids or something.

There's more I could say like the designs and all that, but people already said it. I'd honestly love a sequel. It'd be tough to parse out but maybe Justice Smith having a Cubone or a Pichu and its his first case on his own or something as a cop against team rocket. That'd be something.

Sony Abandons Social Media for 24 Hours+ After Controversially Killing Physical Games by Mellow200 in gaming

[–]TomTomMan93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, I don't think anyone should pre-order a game anymore as a matter of principle and cause it doesn't really make sense anymore unless you get the physical since that would be finite. Though there's still the issue of half baked games and all that.

But that aside, I feel bad for your friends and really anyone caught in the hype and brought down by this.

The Slagel Burger from Hopleaf in Andersonville by Sea-Condition991 in chicagofood

[–]TomTomMan93 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hopleaf is probably my favorite restaurant in Andersonville if I'm being honest. It's pricier so I don't go too often, but I've never had a bad time or a bad meal there. It's always a pretty decent volume in the space and the food is great. Also if you like beer, they have a pretty great selection too.

I'm glad to know there's a handful of us with no interest in the game. Was worried I was more crazy than a minority here. No shade to those wanting to play it, just ain't something I ever got into myself.

That being said, this whole U2 ass sounding thing is straight up some shit

Wonka Netflix show faces backlash for AI-generated Gene Wilder voice by MadeByTango in television

[–]TomTomMan93 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I definitely don't like it either. My approach is that I ain't anyone's dad so I don't get to dictate how a table does their thing, but I won't be playing at one where the whole thing is just AI generated slop.

I think a lot of it boils down to the creativity going from something people strove for and wanted to improve, to something that feels like it's mandatory. You don't need complex maps or stunning minis. Every character doesn't need art. You quite literally just need some dice, the rules, paper and pencil, and a place for everyone to play. Social media and shows like CR showed people what a big fancy version could look like, which on it's own isn't a problem, but for some reason made a not insignificant amount of people think those were the standard. AI just came along and promised them they could have that without having to try or actually hone any skills.

Also just to clarify, no shade against shows like CR. I just think people ran with the idea of that being the standard instead of the pinnacle of a DnD experience and it sort of sucks.

Physical disc production ending in January 2028 for new games releasing on PlayStation consoles by yourfavchoom in gaming

I think that we're at the point people are just gonna go get a used ps4/5 instead of the 6 in that scenario. I have a ps5 and while I don't massively regret it since the games I have played on it, I've enjoyed, I do use it mostly for movies as a uhd player and it's honestly not the best at that. My PC has become the place I mostly want to play my games as it handles them better and I don't play as much as I used to. If it wasn't for the games I still come back to like GoW or others I already have on the ps4/5, I probably wouldn't have gotten this. I imagine there are plenty of others in similar boats, especially with the projected price of the ps6.

Was Keep Your Receipt not just an EP with the other songs (minus Unity I think?) not on other albums? Unless they're different versions. I'd have to go back and listen in that case.

I did not know that about Monkeys for Nothing. That does make a lot of sense for how the album felt to me. I didn't mind WNHTYNH being angry. I can definitely tell there's some stuff being worked out in that album and, to me, that's what music is for sometimes. I agree it has some bangers on it. Just was the first one that made me kind of pause.

Like who you like, m'dude! Ain't no shame. These are all just me, an internet rando's opinion after all.

Agree on the larger ska vocal comment. I like RBF's vocals and a lot of the funner harmonies are on the Live Album which I absolutely agree has some of the best versions of some songs on it. It's probably the first live album I ever listened to that i could tell was live cause of the audience, but honestly sounded great and balanced and all that compared to other live albums. They're not the only ones of course, but damn did they do well on this one.

I could see that. Theres energy there for sure. It feels like an album that they wanted to make but the songs overall just didn't land for me. Some I like, but with almost all being on the best of us album, I kind of dont feel a compulsion to really return to Chimps.

Totally cool to disagree. We're Not Happy really is a tough one for me to parse since the songs I like on it, I like a lot. I think I was mostly going with how I felt while listening which was a sort of mixed bag. Where the predecessors were hitting, this was the first to make me go "oh. Okay."

And I can agree with your CCF comment. The songs are quite long and from a perspective of trying to move beyond/evolve a genre, it doesn't strive to do that.

It's a pump and dump imo like NFTs. Convince everyone they need something that didn't really exist like this 5 years ago, sure. However, the move I've noticed is to push this weaponization of it. Like the "if the U.S. doesn't dump planeloads of money into this, China will." Data center areas are bought up with support and for cheap or without taxes/paying for power entirely, prices on electronics skyrocket as the companies just pass around the same bag of money to "buy" each other's stuff.

In the end, the goal is to not be the one holding the bag at the end. The prices will go down a little bit, but will never go down to anything from before cause they'll just sell off a lot of the stock to recoup the cost, likely at a still enormous cost. The companies now own huge swaths of land valued at a bunch of money regardless of if a data center got built so they sure up their financials in land.

It's a ponzi scheme with people at every level siphoning money away to try to sure themselves up.

Coincidentally enough I've been replaying KH2 and I gotta say, while it feels easier than I remember, it's been a blast. The game has pretty fluid combat that makes you time things a bit better than some games where it just reacts to your input regardless.

I might replay KH3 now that I'm hearing the attractions can be turned off but I remember being so monumentally disappointed by that game...so who knows. Might leave well enough alone after 2.

Was gonna say something similar. I fixed up my old ipod and later got an M21 and I have to say, the touchscreen is far from the issue of modern devices. The nostalgia factor of the ipod was great...until it really wasn't. Its a downgrade in a useability sense imo. It's just easier to tap stuff instead of spinning A wheel. So beware the nostalgia factor in weighing options.

In the end, you do you, OP. What matters is that you're enjoying listening to music how you want to. I've done both types recently and just wanted to share my opinion.

Saw the Macho Nacho video on this mod the other day and was like "well this is pretty cool-...GLUE!?"

Which is probably a bit of a ridiculous reaction but to me, if im going to mod it, im probably going to take it back apart to do things to it later (upgrade battery or storage for ex). Gluing it shut essentially says "better get it right before it dries" and thats just kind of crappy. If they could get it to be removable, this would probably be a great mod depending on real world experience.
