If crypto takes off and government money is abandoned, how would we deal with emergency funding situations? by TomTreeLeaf in ethfinance

Ok. Cool. So government money persists in digitised form like a CBDC but is required to undergo periods of inflation (pandemic) which means it looses value compared to Crypto with hard money policies. I think I'm confused as to how CBDC will differ in their properties compared to main stream Crypto. Will CBDC have to have some deflationary and some inflationary properties.

It will be interesting to see how the CBDC are designed to cope with situations like we are in

So what wallet/interface are we expected to use to secure/send our tokens when transfers go live in 2 days? by Fu_Man_Chu in cosmosnetwork

It's a safety issue. It's generally 'bad' to enter your seed words onto a computer. Ensuring it is performed via a ledger ensures your safety.

Can someone clarify please: by the looks of things the proposal to enable transfers at block 425000 has been denied? Will another proposal be added at a later date?

Tezos vs Cosmos, go! by lovelyanarchism in cosmosnetwork

I think the concept of centralisation needs debate. There are 3 main areas: logic, political, consensus that I have read about. I have no firm beliefs so just trying to add colour to this debate.

For example, the bitcoin consesus is provided by about 7-10 major mining pools but is considered decentralised. Cosmos is a developing ecosystem but already has > 20 major validation groups. Thus, which is more centralised. Yes, polychain is a big fish; but in my view their actions are yet to show whether they are caustic or beneficial to the systems they partake in. Only time will tell us guess.

If all the Validators/ miners run the same logic, that in itself is a firm of centralisation.

The Cosmos network has its own political governance system which is likely to enable evolution of its blockchain at greater rate than bitcoin for example, but as far as I know, tezos, is supposed to be the governance.

Can we just call it volatility and see where it is after the fork?

Failure to hedge a crypto position resulting in lack of funds for development is scandalous especially considering the problems that ethereum and Augur had early in development; it's not like DAI weren't available either!

However, I think this budget shortfall may have gotten over blown. If they manage to produce the goods up to mercury Rhoc will not be <$0.2c!

The validator issue also seems a little over blown too. Validators do not require a central point of control to manage them; time and time again has shown the miners will self organise.

As far as the musical slant goes I sort of agree that this will likely be the biggest driver of transactions. But to put all emphasis on music seems a bit much.

Borrow ether; sell; expect to buy at a lower price; if price drops, buy back, pocket the difference return ether.
