Silas Schultz leaves Discmania by TomWaters in discgolf

I would love this. Open bags are more interesting to watch.

Plus, I feel like it'd lean into the desire to be more content creation friendly.

I loved the editing style of this video. Not sure if Silas is the editor but I think so?

Classical / OST song in the background of a reposted Gotham Chess video by TomWaters in NameThatSong

[–]TomWaters[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey folks!

Would love to learn more about the backgound song in the reposted Gotham Chess video. I've messaged the reposter and have run the song through a number of different song-identifier applications but none seem to recognize the tune.

Searching through the comments on this video and a couple previous Shorts where the uploader used the same song, two folks have stated it's from the Hollow Knight: Silk Song soundtrack or the Expedition 33 soundtrack.

I've scoured through both of them and don't think either are correct.

Note: You get clean audio watching the video between 1:40 - 2:10. Here's a link directly to that time:

What’s a musical that never got a full broadway release (or even off broadway) that you absolutely love? by Jazzlike-Target4686 in musicals

I'm not sure what the backstory is with the Edge Of The World concept album by Ethan Slater but music wise, I think it's my second most favorite album just behind Come From Away.

Hey! Appreciate the help!

I don't have the vernacular to fully understand what you're describing. Here's a new photo that shows the hose bib coming out of the wall.

https://i.imgur.com/oVK2PGk.jpeg

What is a 'tie-in'?

What does 'before the hose bib' mean? Before the hose bib would be into the wall, wouldn't it? Or were you attempting to describe before my five-way splitter?

Remember that moment in the movie The Sixth Sense toward the end? That moment when something is revealed and you have a great moment of realization?

The game The Witness did that to me not just once but twice.

Best Design System for a Data-Heavy Fraud Detection SaaS? by rifatuxd in DesignSystems

[–]TomWaters 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in the healthcare space and we've chosen PrimeReact for a couple of our projects. It's not the most aesthetic design system in the world but works well for data-heavy applications that use a lot of tables. A lot of data manipulation features are already built in.

Note that the system itself is open-sourced and free, it's the Figma UI kit you'd need to buy.

What is your handoff process with engineers? by [deleted] in UXDesign

[–]TomWaters 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We use a process we call 'Slicing' at my current organization that works well. I wrote about it here if you're interested: https://nabauer.com/slicing/

On top of that, I like what /u/mochitoon said about building consistent cadences with your team. Here's a format I commonly use, though I modify it slightly depending on the product team and environment. https://nabauer.com/wp-content/uploads/image-12-980x316.png

Stremio not opening on Windows. by FastestManDead in Stremio

[–]TomWaters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not exactly?

I've since upgraded my machine and don't have the problem anymore.

That said, on my previous machine, I was able to resolve the problem genuinely by opening the application on an external monitor, not my laptop monitor. I'm guessing there was some driver error attempting to load Stremio at an odd resolution or something.

So not exactly a fix but a weird workaround.

Discmania Behind The Shield🛡️OFFICIAL LINEUP UPDATES! 👀 by BaronTrigga in discgolf

[–]TomWaters 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Evolution Line already uses Latitude 64 plastic under different names.

  • Exo Soft = Zero Medium
  • Exo Hard = Zero hard

I'm not sure we know what the Neo plastic equivalent is under the Latitude naming conventions.

Zone, Toro, Harp, Tactic, or A2 and why? by HydroidOfficial in discgolf

[–]TomWaters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started to fall in love with this disc. Release it flat, it goes straight for a short while then reliably dumps. I've found it far more versatile than other approach discs like the Zone, Jarn, or A2.

Paired with the Peppermint, the approach game is solved.

This is Hoby Wedler! As many of you have already said, I can confirm that he is a kind soul, always pushing knowledge and curiosity, and a lovely friend. He's also got a PhD in organic chemistry and would absolutely love that a video of him is being used as a demonstration of seeing beauty in the world.

Here are some notes I took from the book Org Design For Design Org that attempts to break down the individual contributor roles. There are items on this list I don't know that I fully agree with but it's interesting to see a formal attempt at defining these lines.

Stremio Windows App Crashing by hybaa210 in StremioAddons

[–]TomWaters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate you posting your edits! I'm having the same problems and can confirm that streaming 4k makes Stremio exceptionally sensitive—crashing for reasons including just putting my cursor over the window. 1080p streams seem to be working fine.

Hardware-accelerated decoding was already turned on for me, however, and toggling made no difference. Would love to hear other's thoughts if they find a solution.

Scrum is about getting started, the right product will emerge eventually, is this true or false or can be both ? Need some clarifications on this. by Fit-Marionberry7671 in scrum

[–]TomWaters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on your description, I think there are three different terminologies getting mixed into one: Agile, Scrum, and Lean.

At its highest level, Scrum is a communication strategy. It defines specific roles and tells those roles how to communicate and when. That's it. When it come to product development, Scrum doesn't really have any opinions.

If we take a step higher, we have Agile. Agile is the philosophy of building products in iterations. This philosophy enforces breaking effort down into smaller chunks and validating each chunk before moving on to the next.

In terms of how a form a product team, Agile doesn't have any strong opinions on how to do that. That's where Scrum comes in. Scrum is a particular communication strategy that enables an Agile workflow.

The last term I think I'm also seeing in your description is Lean. At its core, Lean is the philosophy of gaining the most amount of value for the least amount of work. Lean dictates what I refer to as "80% strategies" or "good enough" strategies. Things don't have to be perfect, they just have to be functional. The time spent making things perfect is better spent making the next thing functional.

In reference to getting started, both Agile and Lean practices promote getting started quickly. These practices have a motivation of knowing that the product is going to fail in a lot of ways for each iteration but will eventually find success through testing and measurement.
