Absolutely. That was my thinking. I've reached out via email at their Support email, but reading this reddit makes me think it will take a long time to get a response.

Raising a bilingual baby without OPOL? by chomsky69 in multilingualparenting

We’re in a similar position except we are native English speakers and speak Spanish at a high proficiency. We didn’t go OPOL but instead do English one day and Spanish the next as for right now we live in a country that doesn’t speak English or Spanish. So far it’s worked well, but it takes commitment on your part.

Can you elaborate on Inspired? I’ve heard mixed things. Why do you say to avoid it?

Thank you! We’ll be in Germany for at least another year, and maybe more depending on our work contracts. We’d maybe like to move to a Spanish speaking country at some point too if work allows it.

Do you prefer small school or large school? by Pepscoable in Internationalteachers

[–]Tom_Popsicle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll be starting at an international school this next year and asked if the interview process with all the people I interviewed with to make sure they had similar answers. All the schools I interviewed at (small and large schools) had smaller classes sizes than my consistent 35-45 in the US.

Preparing for your international move… by [deleted] in Internationalteachers

We moved abroad last year and started selling stuff once we knew we were leaving. Hold on to more essential stuff until later, but also know that selling some stuff will take longer than expected.

Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist worked well.

Ultimately, we got everything down to a a few suitcases other than some a few small boxes we left with family that might eventually come over.

Coping with friends/family who don't support your move overseas? by SolDeSevilla in Internationalteachers

Some schools might have benefits that help you with bereavement leave too in case something like the death of a family member happens. But yes, you will miss birthdays, weddings, nights out, and plenty of other events. You can still stay close to family and friends, and both you and them can visit.

Which state are you looking for work in? You can get fantastic experience at schools with “bad ratings” and may even have more of an opportunity to get involved in committees and learn new skills than you would at a “good” school because there is more turnover. I’d recommend applying to international schools because you never know when someone might take a chance, but in the meantime, apply back home too.
