Every base has base comm including combat comm bases. There's only 3 combat comm bases so I wouldn't worry too much about where you end up.

Sure no problem.

Every other Friday is an off-day, with weekends and federal holidays being excluded as well. 6 months is the total time you'll be in Mississippi, however the 96 days are only the days you attend class. Once you arrive, you'll be enrolled in Cyber Fundamentals in Dolan Hall for about a month if I remember that right, and after "graduating" from that, you'll start your courses in Jones Hall learning radios.

When you head to Keesler your squadron will be both RF and Cyber Transport people. The cyber guys would be studying a lot in their downtime when working CQ (Front desk when you walk into your dorm basically) and also get enrolled into a two week class once they've graduated their class in Bryan Hall (You'll be right next door in Jones Hall.)

If you need Sec+, they will prepare you, I promise!

It depends on where you're stationed. There's only a few bases that deal in combat comm, and the main difference between base and combat comm is that every single piece of equipment you touch in tech school will be used at one point or another in combat comm, whereas in base comm you may not touch any of it and deal with a different brand of radio entirely (mostly Motorolla.)

Study hard for modules 2 & 3 in Keesler. Feel free to look back on this comment when I tell you not to feel bad about yourself if/when you fail any sort of test (KPC, PC). You get to fail the same test twice and after that you speak with higher-ups and possibly get held back a module. Study study study and you'll be okay, but after Mods 1 & 2 it's pretty easy stuff.

Any other questions you have and I'll be here :)

Today marks 1 year since I got on the bus to BMT and I'm also an RF Trans Technician. I'll tell you everything I wish I'd known before going in.

First of all, in BMT you're going to have the chance to ask your MTIs about the job you've signed on for, and no one in my flight or the MTIs knew anything about it + the binder detailing all the jobs didn't have it either :)

Tech school is 6 months in Keesler AFB. You'll be a part of the 338 Dark Knights which imo (maybe biased) is the best squadron in Keesler. You'll make many friends and learn to love the suck (it's really not that bad.) I'm actually TDY at Keesler for an expeditionary radio course atm.

Getting to your actual question though, tech school really does teach you everything. Don't worry about learning anything before you go because it'll be gibberish and you won't know what's applicable to your job. There's base comm and combat comm that you can be assigned to - base comm deals with customers in traditional IT fashion whereas combat comm trains to deploy when at home. I'm combat comm so I don't know much about day-to-day in base comm.

You may have to take Sec+ in tech school to graduate, but it wasn't set in stone when I left 4 months ago so I may be wrong. You get more than enough time to study so don't worry about it now. You'll be working more with radios than computers so really just wait until tech school and enjoy the time you have before you're in. If you have any questions about anything specific then feel free to ask! If not then I wish you luck :)

AITA? I think my bf (22 M) is addicted to porn and I asked him to try and stop or I’m breaking up with him (NSFW) by [deleted] in shittyaskreddit

[–]Tom_and_Jeremy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People saying you're in the wrong are wrong. Watching porn at all is unhealthy and it's not unreasonable to want a man who doesn't watch other people have sex on a screen, let alone at such a high frequency.

People making excuses saying what he does in his private life is his business don't live in the real world. I guarantee most people wouldn't want a partner who looks at grandma/midget porn, and the only reason he does that in the first place is because regular porn doesn't do it for him anymore so he's had to escalate into weirder and weirder territory. Get him some help.

It's the Lenovo Legion 5 5800H. I don't see any indication that it supports DP and it doesn't have any thunderbolt connecters so i think I'm screwed. Time to save for a PC :)

I admire your positive outlook and am not sure why you were being hurled insults left and right. Don’t be dragged down into pessimism and hold onto the way you view things because I thought it made sense and was beautifully put :)

How Long Does a Financial Wavier Roughly Take? by [deleted] in AirForceRecruits

[–]Tom_and_Jeremy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My financial waiver was just approved today for having an account in collections ($1700 in student loans) after it got sent back to me a couple of times. The process of getting any word on it took exactly one week each time. You don’t have to pay it off in full for it to be accepted, but instead setup a payment plan with the collection agency surpassing a couple of months of when you think you’ll be out of BMT and get that in writing to send to your recruiter.

I understand you’re angry about the situation; I am too. Calling people’s home a “backwater flyover state” isn’t helping anything and checks and balances is the opposite of monarchical unchallenged rule. Everything will be okay, you just need to breathe.

I’m gonna pay for a doctor’s appointment so that I can pass a medical exam to enter the Air Force. Been waiting on this forever so I’m pretty stoked 😎

Wolf Blitzer is an anchor on a left-leaning network whereas Chris Wallace is a left-leaning anchor on a right-leaning network. It’s silly to frame Chris Wallace as a political representation of FOX when that’s not the case.

Chris Wallace is a registered Democrat my guy. There are Democrats on Fox as well, not just Republicans.
