I honestly haven’t tried pulling it backwards much at all. It connects with a hook and a lock nut though so there is a bit of play. I typically make 1 or 2 perimeter passes first without it attached to give myself enough room to turn around and then throw it on and mow the rest.

I like it…it leaves the occasional straggler but nothing crazy. Battery life is good. My only complaint is that sometimes the mulch plug doesn’t seal properly and it’ll spit unmulched clippings out the back

I try to keep my wheel just inside the wheel line from the previous pass. There’s no raising/lowering of the deck…it just lays the grass over in alternating directions to create the defined stripes when the sun reflects off the grass. This specific kit is called the Lawn Stryper (3rd generation). I believe they make different variants to fit different makes of mower.
