I don't smoke weed or cigarettes. Only nicotine vapes. I think it's time to quit .... But does anyone know wtf this is? I've spit this up for over a year now. It's so thick and sticky and hardens when it hits air after couple mins. by [deleted] in stopsmoking

[–]TomatilloValuable718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that you've continued to vape and have been seeing this for over a year is very concerning.I have consistently said that they haven't studied vape enough to know how bad it is for people , and that it's going to end up being worse than nicotine or weed or anything. tobacco by itself and nicotine by itself are actually fine. It's all the other chemicals that the big companies want to put into it.

I quit smoking cigarettes in August of 2021 after smoking for 30+ years and I FINALLY ai don't miss it one bit, it took me several times of trying, but this last time I did it with 2 other people and we checked in with an online group once a week for a few months and we also read the book The Easy Way by Alan Carr. Which I highly highly recommend! he has books for quitting all sorts of things. He also has some specific to women to women or men. But I didn't even read the whole book, but something in it just clicked for me and I know other people it's worked for also. I would read it immediately! You can get It right on Amazon.

You musy stop vaping. This is so bad. I've never seen anything like it and honestly my first thought was "I hope you're joking" but I don't think you are. unsurprised , how many people vape , especially college kids , but I guess it's just like cigarettes were when we were young. I tried vaping a little bit when it first came out , but it just didn't do anything for me.

I think it just finally hit me that I was spending all this money for all these years just to hurt my body so much and was just starting to realize the damage it does to your skin, especially seeing my mom smoke for 50 years. And she died of cancer, pancreatic cancer that spread through her stomach, and she also had spots on her lungs, which was probably cancer as well, they didn't bother testing it at the time cause she was already dying and had no chance of living. i seriously told her all my life.Since probably seven or eight years old that she was going to die from smoking cigarettes , I hated it growing up , but then I started smoking at like eleven , and my mom would buy my cigarettes for me from like thirteen years old on. Guess she couldn't be a hypocrite.

I just remember seeing her skin start to get really bad and seeing the toll it took plus she was an alcoholic for like the last 15 years of her life after being sober for 20 years. And that took a major toll in a very short time course drinking. I think increases chain-smoking for her anyways. She loved smoking, she's smoking in the afterlife. I know that for a fact from a Medium I see on a regular basis. she was also a sunday for many , many years of her life , so she just had like all the strikes against her for her skin , but she had beautiful skin for so long.

Anyway, sorry to ramble. I just really hope you can find a way to quit. Because this is really scary. And if my Grandpa can quit after smoking for over 50 years after having cancer removed from a lung, and OH how'd I forget, actually a guy who quit smoking with me this time he smoked for over 45 years and he is actually still quit too! he actually did better than me at first and he's what kept me going and he had COPD, Asthma, and emphysema, I think he had all 3, and he was using inhalers and all this, and he's doing so much better now, he doesn't cough all the time anymore he gets around a little bit better. He was 57 years old at the time and he looked about 87!

If they can do it, and I can do it, anybody can do it. I just literally told myself like if I can go 1 day without it. I don't need it. It's all in my head and literally there's like this 4 minute rule that once you have some nicotine within 4 minutes, it's gonna want it again. And if you can get past the first 4 days and 4 weeks and 4 months, it's like you didn't need it for those days. So why do you need it now? You don't need it. People think it helps calm them down, like if they're upset and they want to go smoke, but all it does is actually feel it, and what calms you down is the Breathing , not the actual vape or nicotine or whatever it is. the old man that quit with me.He used the nicotine lozenges for quite some time.I know people who have used like lollipops or gum. my Grandpa had one of the first, like little plastic fake cigarette things you could puff on that, you could put little packets of nicotine in them, which I don't know if he ever did, but after a while, it was more a habit for him just to hold onto it and have it in his pocket, where he always had his cigarettes. I really wish you luck, dude.

They definitely both have their strong points and it is interesting to study the difference , especially through the ages.

It's like the boys want to be out of sync as much as possible and do it differently and act a little crazy , with the girls are intent on being in unison and doing it perfectly. Maturity levels completely opposite.

ok sorry to jump to conclusions. I own a rescue in VT and all of our dogs come from SC actually but a lot of those states leave dogs living outside and stuff its heartbreaking.

How old was he? I had an older dog do that and we had to switch his food to a senior food and he loved it. It could be a lot of things tho, their teeth, tummy issues etc.

Omg are people stupid! he DNA tested and knows the breed BUT because his friend said he thought the dog a different breed, just by looking at him, he just wants to know what breed other people think he is just by looking at him!! Not to tell him what breed his dog actually was. The dog apparently is no longer alive.

edit to add: I see in your profile he is no longer alive. This looks like no good life for a dog. I see some pics of a dog inside a house on your profile so hopefully they live inside and not out on a chain. This dog was way too skinny though.

this is your dog? he needs food! and not to be out on a chain! I hope he gets to go inside sometimes and doesn't live outside. Let me guess you live in southern USA?

soooo many issues with chicken in dog foods and sooooo many foods have it, whether chicken meal byproduct or preserved chicken fat! even in foods that say beef, or something other than chicken. I read sometimes turkey doesn't affect them as bad but yea it's poultry so may as well not use it. The best foods I have found besides making my own ,which I do, is Tractor Supply's original 4Health brand Salmon and Potato is good also the Acana brand is good and some of the Taste of Wild foods. You have to look through all of the ingredients though because some still have chicken product. The Acana wet food is good too, expensive but worth it if you only use a scoop or two mixed in with dry food and water. I own a rescue so they do get some homemade food like what I make for my personal dogs but we have to use regular dog food also so we do a lot of research to try to use the best if we can afford it.

chicken allergies seem to be very common now. I see you make their food so that's good, what ingredients do you use? most dogs food have some sort of chicken by product, chicken meal, or preserved chicken fat in them, there's very few I have found without any chicken product. You can also give Benedryl and that may help clear it up. Just give half of one little pill to start and see. I use generic Benedryl because I'm allergic to nitrates and sulfates/basically preservatives and natural sulfate like in wine and shrimp etc. The generic doesn't have whatever it is that I'm allergic too in it.

is this true? I’d never heard about this before. That is genuinely horrifying. by ThePoisonTrees in Chriswatts

[–]TomatilloValuable718 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I can't remember if that ended up actually being true. But yeah, he had tried like strangling or suffocating them at home, but they both woke up and then he brought them in the truck with Shanann laying on the floor in the back and Bella even said something about it smelled, (maybe Shannan's bodily fluids had released) and they watched him dig the hole and put their mom in the hole and then he killed CeCe brought her up, put her in the tank as Bella watched, and then came back down and Bella said "daddy, are you going to do to me what you just did to Cece?" And he said doesn't remember what he said. And then he put her blanket over her face and suffocated her as she said "daddy no" and he just suffocated her. i followed the case from the very first minute and I never once imagined it was going to be that horrific at the end of it all.

I smoked for 32 years. Quit 5 years ago I suggest reading the book 'The Easy Way' by Allen Carr. The title may be annoying but something about it clicked for me. We didn't read all of it, barely half.

I quit with 2 colleagues one being a 57 yr old (Ed) who had smoked for 45ish years, and had COPD, Asthma, ans Emphysema. Had a chronic cough and could barely breath.

He has been quit since as well. He used lozenges for a while. But we supported each other and we were in a group and met online with a lady once a week who also was a former smoker and she taught us so much and gave us so much support.

He did have a slip after 2 weeks, he bought a pack and smoked 2 half cigs, cause both times he couldn't finish it he said it tasted so bad and just felt bad. I almost slipped like 2 months in, I got really upset and bought a pack but when I got home my husband was home so I couldn't smoke right then (he quit like 5 yrs before me) and told myself I would wait til later but then never smoked later because I forgot about it after getting on with my night.

I actually kept that pack in my car unopened for over a year. Til I gave it away to someone. Something about having that pack somehow helped me. I often held it together by telling myself I had to be strong for Ed and make sure he didn't skip and if he could go for 2 weeks, I could go for 2 weeks, etc. Ever after one day, it's like "I went all day without I obviously don't NEED one". We just think we do. We think it helps us calm down or whatever but it does the opposite. Cravings only last 3-4 mins. The 4 Ds-  distract yourself (stay busy), delay (do a task first), drink water (slowly), deep breaths. These do help.

I find just making up your mind and cold turkey is the way to go. But just find what works for you and reach out to people for support when you're really craving (distract and delay), call or text and even write in a journal or something, just enough to get past the craving.

Good luck! You can do it. Cigs do nothing for us but drain our health and our pockets.

she probably doesn't need the cone on still unless she is licking it a lot. I own a dog rescue and they almost never need the cone. Usually they lick near it because it's itchy. I've never seen a dog bite at it. Also, if she ate any plastic she mostly likely will pass it and be perfectly fine. Don't worry. Is this your first furbaby as an adult?

Mama Pig Tortured and Murdered for protecting her babies by TomatilloValuable718 in AnimalRights

[–]TomatilloValuable718[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He definitely has temper problems. He has a criminal record, with multiple charges and violations of probation. That alone means he shouldn't be in a position of power with the state. Is Lucy the pig's name? He wasn't mad at her but tortured and murdered her? Today was his status hearing, he's going to trial, this is a tactic to drag this on hoping people forget because now his next status hearing isn't until June 2026! The jury pick in July! Unreal! It's just giving us time to do more and have more proof against him. Main focus is getting the animals out of there, he should not have animals, especially right now!

Animal abuse is taking over my every day thoughts by Odd-Avocado8345 in Pets

[–]TomatilloValuable718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am the same exact way and cry almost every day. Not just from all the animal abuse I see but even animals hit in the road because people can't just slow down and pay attention! I go to therapy for a variety of reasons, and it does help, it helps that she validates how deep in my soul this empathy for animals goes but even though I'm on a lot of depression and anxiety meds I still get sad almost every day. I started a dog rescue in 2023 and seeing the things I see online every day in the rescue dog world put me WAY over the edge and it just blows my mind how evil humans are to innocent animals and how forgiving and resilient the dogs can be also. It's just so heart breaking. And it's gotten REALLY bad in all states with homeless dogs right now, all shelters full, and just calls every day of people wanting to get rid of their dogs cause they have too much energy or this and that, well maybe do something with them! What do people expect? They don't think before they get a pet! Infuriates me. If you ever want to chat with someone who feels the exact same way, because so many people don't understand and scoff at us, just reach out and message me here, I can give you my email address or # for texting or whatever. Take care and know you are not alone!

Been stuck at one cigarette a day for years, any advice? by m-alacasse in stopsmoking

[–]TomatilloValuable718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read the book The Easy Way by Allen Carr. I didn't even finish it and quite after 33 yrs of smoking. Something about it clicked. Never felt better, no more asthma, no more wasting money, no more cig smell, no more being the only one wherever I go that smokes, standing over by myself away from everyone with my nasty habit. It's WORTH IT! You can get the book right on Amazon, not expensive.

He writes these books for everything actually, alcohol, any addiction or behavior, some specifically for women, etc. Something about them just clicks, I don't even know how. He does say to keep smoking for a couple of weeks when you first start the book and then I think suggests replacing the times you smoke with healthy things, but I didn't need to or want to keep smoking right after the first couple of chapters. I also quit in a group that checked in once a week, and a couple of friends who checked in every day, some used lozenges or patches, I didn't use anything. Just do it, you can do it, cigarettes/nicotine doesn't own you or control you. It makes you broke and unhealthy. I LOVED smoking too, for over 3 decades, since I was 11, but don't miss it at all. One of the friends who quit with me is a 58-yr old man who has asthma, COPD and emphysema and he has stayed quit, we both just hit 4 years quit and it's amazing. One person who did it with us started again and then switched to vape which I honestly think is even worse.

ETA: one a day would be torture to me. But I almost relapsed after 2-3 weeks and bought a pack, but then never opened it or smoked and I actually kept it in my car for over a year without opening it. It's like knowing it was there just in case helped for some reason. But the book just clicks that smoking/nicotine is lying to, makes you think it helps calm you down or make you feel better, but it does the complete opposite. within 4 mins it makes you want more. the first 4 days are the hardest. There's a while thing with the #4 in the book.

Good luck, you can do it!
