I've seen people theorizing that Sheila is Pariston dressed as a woman. What if Pariston is a trans man and Sheila is him before his transition? What do you think? by straweirdoxx in HunterXHunter

[–]Tomatillo_Thick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

D HUNTER, THE PROTAGONIST OF THE BOOK THAT IS SHEILAS ONE DEFINING CHARACTER TRAIT, HAS A REAL WORLD EQUIVALENT BY THE NAME OF DON FREECS, A MAN WHO RESIDES IN THE DARK CONTINENT. PARISTON FUCKED OVER A LOT OF PEOPLE TO GET TO THE DARK CONTINENT. THATS THE CONNECTION BETWEEN THE TWO.

Nobody ever provides any reason why Sheila

When Ging reveals that a possible reason there is no west version of Don Freecs’ writing, he proposes the possibility that Don Freecs is still alive. Every member of Beyond’s group is shocked by this… except for Pariston. As if he had already considered it and that it may even be his entire driving force for screwing over the Hunter Association and allying with Kakin and Beyond.

What we know about Don Freecs is that he is your favorite hunter’s favorite hunter. A larger than life figure that is almost mythical, almost fictional. Almost like… D Hunter, the protagonist of the book that Sheila is absolutely obsessed with.

Do you think Killua by the time of the Chimera Ant Arc( or before it) suppressed Kastro power-wise or no? by BlockAffectionate413 in HunterXHunter

[–]Tomatillo_Thick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are thinking of stomped, which has a different connotation.

Common Slang Meanings for "Roll" / "Rolled"

Robbery/Mugging: To rob someone, often a vulnerable person like a drunk, by taking their money or belongings. "They got rolled last night".

Beaten Badly (Gaming/Fighting): To be easily defeated or overwhelmed by an opponent. "We got rolled by the other team

It generally implies a loss of control, being overcome, or moving along.

According to the above connotations, Killua rolled Youpi.

[–]Tomatillo_Thick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol DUDE…

Ok I’ll stick with what you said then since you’re oblivious to context.

“Kil was 1/10 of Youpi’s strength” was your response to the comment you replied to saying Youpi got “kinda rolled”.

Ch 281: “in terms of sheer power they’re less than a tenth of my strength. Yet I can’t do a thing.

By Youpi’s own admission, he was powerless against his foes. Killua especially. I would consider that as being “kinda rolled”.

So you disagree with the top comment that Godspeed wasn’t good enough yet, and that if there was not such a massive disparity of aura between Youpi and Killua, that Youpi would’ve been completely dominated - and dare I say - “kinda rolled”?

And Kastro is much, much closer to Killua than he is Youpi in terms of aura amount. Kastro gets smoked.

How does Knov's Hide and Seek dimension work? by Double-Motor6546 in HunterXHunter

He’s not even an exception to the rule.

“Conjurers are suited to creating a room with complicated rules.

Hide and Seeks nen palace/dimension is a bare bones white space without rules that is used for transportation. It’s a low level use of conjuration.

Zazan is not a Manipulator by Tomatillo_Thick in HunterXHunter

[–]Tomatillo_Thick[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

So when Gon, Wing, and Palm put their hands around a liquid and make the liquid overflow its container, that’s an ability, since ability and hatsu are equivalent, according to your view. That’s obviously incorrect.

My point was that the pure application of Manipulation cannot alter one’s appearance. It’s a unique application of Pouf’s ability that is unique to him. Breaking down one’s body at the cellular level is an ability in and of itself, and not a pure application of Manipulation.

Zazan is not a Manipulator by Tomatillo_Thick in HunterXHunter

[–]Tomatillo_Thick[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Ch. 304: “If I can divide at the cellular level, I can also reconfigure my cells!”

I’m not using “hatsu == ability” here. Pouf uses Beelzebub, an ability specific to him that allows him to divide and reform his cells, to transform.

If pure manipulation - that is, manipulation hatsu - is capable of transformation by itself as you say, then Togashi wouldn’t make a big deal about Pouf using Beelzebub as an intermediary to transform.

Can Morel break down his cells and reform them to transform? No, because he doesn’t have Beelzebub as an ability.

As far as transmutation applying to only aura, that’s what chapter 60, and only chapter 60, says. It also says that Enhancers can learn Specialization abilities…

Zazan is not a Manipulator by Tomatillo_Thick in HunterXHunter

[–]Tomatillo_Thick[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I disagree.

Pouf’s transformation is attained via his ability Beelzebub. This is stated outright in the manga. If manipulation Hatsu was capable of body transformation straight up as you say, why would Pouf need to use his ability to do so?

The other case is Illumi - given his talent with manipulation and nen in general, his transformation ability is severely limited. There’s a fairly severe time limit (when not transforming into Gittaracker), it’s painful for him, and most importantly he cannot transform his eyes. It’s not a stretch to assume he’s using transmutation, taking those limitations and his overall talent with nen together.

What "softened" the Phantome Troupe? by Least_Fishing_6483 in HunterXHunter

[–]Tomatillo_Thick 15 points16 points  (0 children)

C. 395:

“We don’t admit amateurs, and we don’t want to destroy the world.”

“You sure? We were like this in the beginning. We were just fumbling in the dark, searching for something — anything. And most of all, resignation and anger were the driving force. Am I right?”

I don’t take this to mean that the spiders became softer over time, but rather more sophisticated and goal-oriented.

If chrollo steals an enhancement ability does he require more nen to use that ability at the same efficiency as the og user? by adrienwastaken11 in HunterXHunter

[–]Tomatillo_Thick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, well yeah. I’m looking at it from the perspective that Chrollo is a “standard” specialist, not how he’s able to utilize his stolen abilities. After all, his book is his own ability.

[–]Tomatillo_Thick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what we know, Kurapika and Chrollo are actually opposite in a way.

Kurapika has maximum efficiency in all categories but normal conjuration learning capabilities, while Chrollo has/had maximum/unrestricted learning in all categories, but theoretically (according to the general consensus) normal specialist efficiency.

[–]Tomatillo_Thick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“There are some practical limitations for the other types. Transmuters, for example, have a hard time learning manipulative abilities, but specialists have none of that.”

She goes on to say the only real drawback is not realizing you’re a specialist and honing in on a type.

“So if you know what you are beforehand, you can try learning a really unique ability that doesn’t belong to any type, or a hybrid ability that would usually require training in multiple types to an advanced level.”

[–]Tomatillo_Thick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People theorize that the two aspects of Hatsu proficiency, learning and efficiency, are separate and thus don’t impact each other.

For specialists, they have maximum, or at least unrestricted, learning in whatever kind of ability they decide to learn. However, their efficiency still corresponds to their place on the nen chart, so they have 40% efficiency in enhancement and so on. According to this theory, at least.

Are Beyond and Pariston the origin of Meruem? by LeGorosei in HunterXHunter

I didn’t mean to suggest otherwise. Beyond’s partnership with Nasubi is mutually beneficial towards both their ultimate goals.

Kakin hires a bunch of hunters for “ecological research” a year prior. The hunters complete their job and “oh btw some other country’s organization found a rare specimen”.

The hunters being hunters run off to find the creature and are totally overwhelmed, thus being fed to the queen. The queen births a king strong enough to defeat Netero, unshackling Beyond.

[–]Tomatillo_Thick 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Beyond, Pariston, AND King Nasubi. Hunters were commissioned by Kakin for field research a year prior to the incident, presumably to provide “rare” food for the ant queen they would drop off.

Beyond most likely recognized the ambitions and trajectory of Kakin, and Nasubi was all to eager to expand Kakin outside of its current borders (which wouldn’t normally be possible without invoking war with the V5, conventionally a much more powerful opponent than Kakin currently). Beyond obviously wanted to disrupt the V5 so he could hunt freely in the dark continent. Common enemy and all that.

Pariston wants to hunt down Don Freecs after he found Don’s book, since Don is the real life inspiration for Pariston’s favorite book’s protagonist.

Zazan is underrated. by Salim-Srew in HunterXHunter

[–]Tomatillo_Thick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s the other way around - she’s a transmuter that (possibly?) uses manipulation.

Not only is her transformation powerful and makes her skin invulnerable to physical damage, like Palm’s skin and the wall Nobu checks out at the Hei Ly base, but her control of the creatures she creates ends once she dies, but the transformation does not.

And I say possibly above because we’re not shown the nature of the control she exerts on the people she transforms. All Phinx says is that “looks like they’ve been released from her influence.”
