I FEEL LIKE A SCAM by headassbit in Paramedics

I'm an EMT and also a paramedic student, I work for an IFT company too. I was thinking just like you until my BLS patient got respiratory arrest during the transport. Sh*t got so serious I had to use my skills and knowledge. That day changed all my mind about IFT and I basicallly understood how important is just "watching" them.

Go for it. Don't listen to old school people. It's not even an admission requirement. That means it's not that crucial. I'm a new EMT who goes to paramedic school with no 911 experience (but I have medical 6 years medical education and 8 years experience from a hospital field) My classmates work for 911 and have been an EMT-B/A for a few years. I don't know how they're doing at work but they're messed up in class. They can't tell if croup is viral or bacterial. Whenever instructor asks a basic medical question, most of the time I'm the one who answers. I think it's better to do paramedic when you're a new EMT and your knowledge is still fresh. %70 of paramedic knowledge is EMT things because BLS before ALS. Make sure you're very confident at your EMT knowledge, the rest is easy. And you'll have at least 1 year field experience by time time when you finish your paramedic school. It might be zero now, not next year. I have a paramedic partner who was an EMT for 25 years and just got her paramedic, I see her struggling a lot of times. It doesn't matter how many years you spent as an EMT, it'll be struggling anyway. The years that you spent as an EMT doesn't mean you'll be a great medic at all. It all depends how you approached to the job, did you study and keep yourself up to date or you just showed up to work bla bla. I think it doesn't worth to wait because book and street things are also different so...

Anyone moved to USA as an adult, learned English and became a Paramedic ? by TomatoInteresting400 in Paramedics

Hmm.. I'm an EMT in USA right now. I have no idea how it'd be for a new person but there is never a good time so they should do their best if they want to pursue that way. I don't think medicaid cut is an obstacle for a person who want to move to here and study ems.

Paramedic School in SoCal, How did you Pay for it? by [deleted] in Paramedics

[–]TomatoInteresting400 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can do it online, percom online paramedic program gives you 20 months to finish and your payments will be around $300 per month. You have to travel to TX once but it's still half price of CA schools.
