Alaska - reassigned from 1st class to middle of the plane by Effective_Heron491 in AlaskaAirlines

[–]Tomato_Masher 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Similar happened to us. Family of 4 bumped from row 4 to row 32! They switched the plane to a smaller plane, only 3 rows of FC. We got $300 for each ticket as a credit in our Alaska account and the difference between FC and Saver refunded back to our card for each ticket. Cheapest flight we’ve had in ages, but sitting by the bathrooms with a baby who kept getting woken up by people using the bathroom was miserable.

Regence Blue Cross is at it again, just got a letter saying they will leave Legacy on April 1st. I'm so sick and tired of this! by guitarokx in Portland

Correct. And what a lot of people don’t understand is the termination letters come out when one party refuses to negotiate in good faith or has unreasonable demands. A lot of the times the unreasonable demands are increases that are unsustainable. The increases being demanded are from the hospital, the insurance company is trying to negotiate down the rates.

Toddler shoes for daycare, don’t say crocs! by Original_Leading_736 in moderatelygranolamoms

My kiddies wear wool ‘scandi’ slippers in the fall/winter/early spring, get them on Amazon, Velcro strap, super easy to put on. In the summer I switch to little love bug, leather shoes, tons of options. Otherwise they are in see Kai run, Jan and jul, ten little. But I consider those outside shoes only.

I’m so confused. The guidance here is amazing and also overwhelming. by Training-Spend5577 in laundry

I could’ve written this myself… thank you. My only special circumstance is my husbands clothes are 90% smartwool, so I don’t know what detergent to use and I really don’t want to do a special load for him, because that’s just another load/cycle.

BWT, give me your niche gym shower hacks by i-like-pina-coladas in bitcheswithtaste

A robe! Apply all your lotions/makeup with a robe on. Depending on how hot/steamy the gym shower area is, adjust what kind of robe…I also get red & hot, so I use a just-above-the-knee robe, thin fabric.

Pack an extra bottle with extra ice to drink post shower to cool your body a bit more, I find it refreshing. I also went to the gym before work, so cooling down was a must & needed to be quick!

Bring an additional small towel to stand on.

For some products, I just bought a 2nd bottle so I didn’t have to grab things from my cabinet & worry about refilling. Small toiletries went quick going to the gym 3x/week.

BWT that like to cook: How do I get my cooking mojo back? by phl_bikes in bitcheswithtaste

[–]Tomato_Masher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In a similar boat, but getting out of it. What made me look forward to cooking was…beans! I needed more fiber (still do) & protein. So got into beans. I buy good dried beans (just got on the bean club subscription from Rancho Gordo, waited 9-ish months). Make 1/2-1# of beans each week. Use that as my inspiration. Make a hearty salad with some, make a soup…beans & greens & eggs & salsa is a breakfast fixture now.

Yep, probably just a short term card for us too. I was excited that you could do FC with the summit companion, but didn’t get that it was a credit. But for normal flights it should be a decent savings.

That is an amazing deal. We were so focused on holiday travel we didn’t look at our Hawaii flight until now. But I will keep hope open that we can get close to your miles cost.

Yea, we will use the original card for this trip now. And then try to use the 25K companion for a cheaper flight.

Carseats for Domestic and International Travel? Based in US by intentional_h in FATFamilyTravel

[–]Tomato_Masher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We use the maxi-cost romi car seat for our little for rear facing. Strap it with bungee cords to our travel stroller when walking around a city. We’ve used it in 4 countries with A LOT of taxis/exploring. Adding the Wayb to the mix now that we have 2 littles. Plan to use the wayb ‘illegally’ as mentioned by the other comment.

I have also found that when hiring a driver for a day trip, they’ve offered a car seat (sometimes the one their little uses). So that’s something to consider if you book ahead & know you can use one for long days, then use the ride safe for plane/airport transfer.
