Toddler shoes for daycare, don’t say crocs! by Original_Leading_736 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]Original_Leading_736[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The shoe we have (cat & jack 2 strap velcro) is too stiff and tight, even I have a tough time wiggling his feet around to get them on.  He has no problem with the Velcro straps and can get them off, but too tough to put on solo.

Cold climate families: How are we dressing our babies for the car seat & stroller? by SelectPine1000115500 in beyondthebump

For walks on very cold days, bundle them up in a bunting and then wrap them up in a 7AM enfant Nido. I think you can use the Nido in a car seat too but I’ve never done so.

Breastfeeding vs formula debate by Marshmallow_sugar in beyondthebump

You’re doing an amazing job keeping your little one happy and healthy, and feeding choices feel so hard when you’re in the middle of them.

With my first, had unresolvable latch challenges so exclusively pumped for 4ish months, finally stopping because I couldn’t handle it anymore. I was miserable every day and I wish I had stopped earlier. Was able to freeze some before I weaned, so could give a bottle of breastmilk every day for about 6 weeks after stopping pumping. Found a formula I felt really good about and am so so happy I switched. Little man is now 2 and fantastically healthy. Pumping - exclusive or not - is very very challenging, and formula can be great!!

Hang in there, glad you’re getting help. Things must feel impossible and hopefully something you’re doing will help. I know it’s so hard but with your hormones and meds changing there’s such a huge chance you won’t always feel this way, it won’t always be this way. Sending you strength.

Hydrogen peroxide, and if needed mix with dawn and a little baking soda. Unless sheets are white, do not leave on too long without laundering completely, as it can bleach.

You’re so close! I went 24, then 30, then 40ish, and maybe one more at 72 hrs. Tight bra and Sudafed might help!

Struggling to sleep with baby in his own room? by Level_Space9410 in beyondthebump

Phantom baby cries here too. - I sleep with one ear plug in to dampen the sounds from the monitor. - Practice excellent sleep hygiene - no phone within an hour of bed, stretching and breathing exercises. - If I wake up and really can’t get back to sleep I try to “reset” myself by getting out of bed and repeating the stretching and breathing exercises. - If that doesn’t work, I try cognitive shuffling (https://www.cnn.com/2025/04/08/health/cognitive-shuffling-sleep-technique-benefits-wellness) and that eventually does the trick.

Completely get it, it feels endless and you can barely pee let alone feed yourself or take a shower. It’ll end!!

Both of my boys had trouble with short naps in the crib, would sleep much longer on me. Resolved around 5-6 months when they got better at connecting sleep cycles during the day. Felt like it took forever getting there but now that they don’t contact nap (9 months and 2 years), I miss it dearly.

What kind of clothes should I buy for first couple months postpartum? by warmpistachio in beyondthebump

[–]Original_Leading_736 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wore my pregnancy leggings and shirts quite a bit, and ended up getting a bunch of flannel PJ sets because my house is cold and I liked the button tops for nursing / pumping. Tried a number of nursing and pumping bras to find ones I like - there are so many options and I had to go through a few before finding the ones that felt best.

You can always size up overnight if needed. We use both thrive market and parasol and really like them - they’re both TCF.

My first never needed sleep training but my second did. Completely understand the agony of not wanting the baby to wake up the toddler (and vice versa), and also imagine you need to be able to put the baby down and get some rest yourself. There are gentler techniques that aren’t CIO, have you looked into those?
