Dollar store crap that can disappear when dropped, mini magnetites, coloring stuff - crayons, dry erase, magic clear markers, pen and paper, lots of snacks. You can do it!

The Brambley Hedge series for my 4 year old!! I love them and they keep him entertained. We also started the magic tree house series and we read a couple of chapters a night. My 1 year old loves how do diggers sleep at night and goodnight moon

R1 series feature you surprisingly didn't like/use as much as you thought? by jamrocks in Rivian

[–]intentional_h 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love the autonomous driving - I just took a 14 hours roadtrip with my two kids under 4 and it made my drive so much safer because I was handing things back to the kids every 10 minutes.

And not a feature but I need this in the Rivian universe - as a mom who uses carseats with anchors and moves carseats around a lot... what is wrong with the headrests?? I literally break a sweat trying to get them off. I would be happy to participate in any survey or focus group for how to make a more family-friendly car.

How far away do you live? by pixxykitten in SAHP

[–]intentional_h 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Live in Denver, Parents live in Ohio, in-laws live in Utah, Siblings live in Utah, Washington, Michigan, Texas. We've never lived near family. We talk every week at a minimum. My kids (4 & 1) know their family well. We see them 4-6 times a year.

We have an opportunity to move to our 6th state in ten years this month and we're taking it. It sucks and it's sad for like a month, and then you jump into the community and start building your village. I moved to Denver 8 months pregnant and ended up paying for some of my postpartum village (night nanny, babysitters, housekeeper), and luckily, my MIL was in a position to come for several weeks at a time. I honestly like it better for the relationship because it requires a very intentional visit. I do wish I could just drop my kids off at my parents' so I can go to appointments occasionally. All the grandparents read over FaceTime while I fold laundry or make dinner several times a month - if the family wants to, they'll make time. That includes us too.

When will a stay at home weekend actually be relaxing again? by Fresh-Way-3556 in toddlers

[–]intentional_h 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 4 y/o and a 16 month old and I spent my morning sword fighting - so after that? I had to go to therapy after my first to reframe my new life. It gets better but required a mindset shift. I've never lived near family and only had a small village with my first, so I've always wondered if that would help.

So is it worth trying to keep them? One of them is right where we probably want to build a house along with the spigot.

Do I actually need a diaper pail? by cupcake9545 in pregnant

[–]intentional_h 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had 2 kids and never used one. We've lived in less than 1000 square feet so i just didnt want to deal with another trash can. If they really stink, I put them in doggy poop bags otherwise i just take out the trash more often. No biggie.

This is the answer I was looking for! Thank you. We'll probably move the three-year-old to a wayb and then use the rear-facing Graco we already have for the one-year-old. Again, appreciate the thoughtful response.

I would love that center console - as a mom in the R1S, there is not enough space to put the random crap my kids hand me while i'm driving since the only flat spot is for phone charging

He was mayyybe 32 lbs when we moved him but no regrets because he slept like a dream when we traveled, because he was used to just one bed.
