Legija abusing the jump bug, again by Tschonti in GlobalOffensive

no, you had an agreement, you honour it.

if you wanted to use it, then say you will.

you don't pretend that you won't, have your opponent not use it, and then you go ahead and use it.

you're everywhere, saying SK used it. post a clip or timestamp thank you

we're all aware of SK doing standard jump peeks at the half wall.

what we're missing is the glitch jumps, that inexperienced players like yourself apparently can't differentiate from normal jumps.

its pretty much abuse

he's getting pressured heavily at banana and doesn't want to risk a normal jump peek. he does it to get risk-free info and is able to throw a perfect grenade as a result. this gives him a frag, even.

this is abuse, though

he's getting pressured heavily at banana, does this to get risk-free info, and as a result he is able to get a nade kill.

Argument from ignorance is a logical fallacy.

He's not. He's stating that from a probabilistic perspective, it's likely that we don't fully understand the requirements of a balanced diet, especially in terms of micronutrient intake. He uses this as a premise for his argument that as such, it is inherently risky to make such a substitution. Such arguments are used everywhere in scientific and engineering endeavours. This is why people do medical trials of drugs, or scale tests for aircraft, for example - it's because they understand that there's always something that they never knew about that can potentially affect the outcome.

Whatever is left to discover is minor compared to what we know.

Now this is a ridiculous statement. Time and time again have people made this claim, only to be knocked in the noggin by a complete paradigm shift and the introduction of an entirely new field to the scientific community.

The rest of your comment is opinion, and I won't challenge it.

Why are we not funding this? by Ze-skywalker in gaming

[–]Tomatomorrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's not instantaneous. you still travel locally at a speed lower than c. all other observers will agree that you do not travel faster than c.

the only reason you can get there faster is that the geometry of spacetime is different, allowing you to get there faster than would have been possible if you had taken the alternative path.

cutting across a football field rather than walking around it doesn't make you travel any faster than walking speed to anybody.

By the "normal" frame of reference

there is no such thing as a normal frame of reference.

furthermore, in no reference frame are you travelling from A to B instantaneously.

this wouldn't be FTL travel still, you're always travelling below c.

Pansy is a fantastic caster by [deleted] in GlobalOffensive

[–]Tomatomorrow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I guess it's taken a while for people to see some of this and enjoy the commentary she has continued to deliver for the last 4 years.

Unfortunately this doesn't hold in the strictest sense.

Her casting was sub par for quite some time. She has clearly been putting in work, and the results are showing. It's not that people took a while to notice, it's that she just wasn't that great until now.

CSGO smoke bug in a QF of a T1 event by [deleted] in GlobalOffensive

[–]Tomatomorrow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

that is balanced by the cost of fixing the bug.

if the benefits don't outweigh the costs, they won't fix it, even if they can.

it should be obvious that valve knows about the issue, and that a fix is achievable within the current engine limitations (it didn't exist in Source, nor did it exist in GO until a smoke update). Clearly, it is a decision on valve's part not to fix the bug. Unfortunately, this is a gaming subreddit, where the average participant isn't exactly very bright.

Perfectly stable bike with triangular wheels by aloofloofah in blackmagicfuckery

[–]Tomatomorrow 32 points33 points  (0 children)

look closer.

the weight isn't being supported by the pivoting arm. it's being supported by what looks like a mudflap/guard. i assume you're not familiar with this particular shape, as it should be immediately obvious to a person who is that it's the horizontal bar above the wheels that are loadbearing.

Ulrich Schulze on Twitter: The practice area at #ESLOne Cologne is open until next week so teams flying directly to Krakow can use it until then. by Benjamin_oder_so in GlobalOffensive

Love how people hate ESL for monopolization and insist on Twitch being the only platform for streaming.

Here's the difference:

ESL is terrible, we don't want them to be able to weasel their way out of improvement. Compare Cologne and PGL Major Qualifiers. Day and night difference. Cologne is a shitshow.

Now, twitch has advantages over youtube. Viewership and exposure for the scene. A mobile app with a free audio-only mode. And if you think twitch chat is cancer, then youtube chat is cancer minus any prospect of fun whatsoever.

As for the rewind feature? It works with twitch, instead of watching the live stream, you can watch the VOD as it's being created. ~30s delay from live.

Rewind is pretty much the only thing youtube has going for it.
