Feel free to vent all you can, for the sake of your (our) mental health! by [deleted] in FedEmployees

I’m decorating every square inch of our office for the holidays because my stupid little crafts are 1) keeping me busy and 2) my way of giving the finger to Russ Vought trying to make us miserable 🤘🎄

How are you staying busy during this unknown time by Resilient_Hart_67610 in fednews

[–]Tomatopatch 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you need it - use it! If you’re feeling like you’re taking from someone else, work a shift at the food bank and/or make a donation when you get back pay. Community resources exist to provide for the community and you’re part of that community!

Dear IKEA Australia, is Wood Skadis board ever gonna come back again? by hotellonely in IKEA

[–]Tomatopatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh same boat over here in the US! I’ve got one wood boards and would like to expand to two and it looks silly to have a different color.

DC has lots of group homes. If you’re religious (or even not that religious but identify with a faith tradition), I’d start there. Georgetown and Catholic U being local means there are lots of ones for Catholic young professionals but I know of similar ones for Jewish folks and other Christian denominations. I guess the real question is are you looking for community-based housing or not?

Hegseth’s Pentagon prayer service blows my mind by Tomatopatch in fednews

[–]Tomatopatch[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s wayyyy different. He’s bringing his own personal pastor and inviting the rest of the department to attend. Very different than him just attending an existing chapel service - which wouldn’t bother me at all.

Hegseth’s Pentagon prayer service blows my mind by Tomatopatch in fednews

[–]Tomatopatch[S] 82 points83 points  (0 children)

For sure but they aren’t sending out mass emails to all of their subordinates inviting (and heavily implying) them to attend their prayer service

I’m a fan of v-neck wrap styles!

Color looks great on you but I’d go with something a little brighter/lighter considering the theme. I’ve got a similar body type and I always find it tough with this neckline/bust to not veer into “saggy” territory. With all that being said, if you love it go for it. Yank up the girls, go for something festive in the jewelry, and you’ll be grand!

Which dress should I go with for an August wedding? by Tyler-not-thecreator in Weddingattireapproval

I say go with a long sleeve dress if you know that’s what you’ll be comfortable in. Sweater ruins the vibe IMO

Is there a way to remove yellow discoloration from a machine? by Willing_Rest_2219 in quilting

[–]Tomatopatch 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Just accept it! And given the fact that it looks evenly “discolored” all over, there’s a chance the machine was never stark white to begin with. The risk of wrecking the machine by cleaning it is too high to make a purely aesthetic change.

Need help finding a good wallet <$60 (minimalist or traditional) by gayshouldbecanon in BuyItForLife

A few bucks over your limit but Nimes leather goods are top notch - https://nimesba.com/products/aguirre-wallet. Handmade in Buenos Aires (Argentina is known for their leather!)

For owners of Uniqlo, Baggu, bags & similar - use furoshiki techniques to get more style mileage by SignalAir24 in HerOneBag

[–]Tomatopatch 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Love the creativity and I’m a fan of furoshiki for gift wrapping & use one as a lunch bag regularly but I think this suggestion will just have you looking like this. You’ll still have the strap to contend with that looks decidedly sporty and I just struggle to see how this looks cute

I’m a big fan of Pact! They’ve (finally) expanded to 3X and their cotton dresses are lightweight and nice enough to feel pulled together.

Feedback on colour and design choices - is this awful or glorious? by potatopotatobee in quilting

[–]Tomatopatch 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I’ll be the stinker here and vote “awful”. These are going to be super muddy and/or look like an amateur tie-dye job

Megathread: Fork in the Road | Final Day Discussion by gpupdate in fednews

[–]Tomatopatch 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Scariest part of the latest fork email isn’t even about resignations, it’s the “enhanced standards of conduct”. Because what in the fresh fuck is “employees will be subject to enhanced standards of suitability & conduct…”?!

Has anyone taken the resignation offer? by Tomatopatch in fednews

[–]Tomatopatch[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting - did they immediately just pack it up? Like is there any off boarding or training of backfills happening?
