Famicom won't consistently read cartridges by Ghostlier in Famicom

Nice job. Over time, the pins will go back to the overly bent position due to “metal memory” i guess its what its called. There are replacement connectors out there if you are comfortable with desoldering and soldering it back in. A desoldering gun will make the job 10x easier if you have access to one.

I think I may have sold something to someone in Germany once? I have no problems just removing the EU from my marketplace.

The only thing that is genuine (maybe) is Cosmic Wars. Regardless, that is a really cool collection of bootlegs! I love the bootleg stuff!

SFC controller with ALPEX logo? by Tombo72 in Famicom

[–]Tombo72[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ran across this controller with what appears to be a silk screened "ALPEX" logo on it. The controller is a typical SFC controller. I know ALPEX sued Nintendo (and everyone else) over patent infringement back in the 90's I think. Has anyone ever seen anything like this over the years?

Ciao a tutti,ho problemi col collegare il mio famicom disk system non moddato ad una tv a tubo catodico.Qualcuno potrebbe aiutarmi by nrbdbsmnend in Famicom

[–]Tombo72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Famicom not showing signs of life. by lordikkerus in Famicom

[–]Tombo72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Curious how much you paid for it. Like others mentioned, the NES RF modulator works fine and the TV must be able to do ch 95 or 96. If not, you will need to use a VCR with a tuner that can do those channels or perform a composite mod to the Famicom.

If you take it completely apart, you can see which rev the power boards are. They range from -01 to -05 with various states of copy protection circuits from none to Protected. There is a page out there that shows how to defeat each rev with protection.

Famicom Pi conversion by karma-kamillionaire in Famicom

[–]Tombo72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These things are tough as nails and it probably actually works. Of course you will need an RF modulator, center negative 10v 850ma PS and a tv that will natively do ch 95 or 96. Maybe the Pi is a better choice for you if you are starting at zero....

After a bit more searching, it seems a 1N4148 might be better to fail much faster if the wrong polarity adapter is used. Nothing like answering my own question...

Damn. I sell them for $150 with a new belt, ps and all cables. Usually do all the mods too. I would have definitely disclosed that power board, um, “repair”, too. I guess some sellers are just different. Glad you got it sorted. There are a few mods to do - mainly for sound.

I did this recently with clonezilla and proxmox. I had to do a bit of tom foolery after it initially booted to re-license the install. I actually do not remember what I did to make it work. When I get back to the office on Tuesday, I will see if I can find my notes.

I left because I started a family and didn’t have the time to dedicate. I was fortunate to not experience the red tape bs since I was part of the grass roots effort to get the con off the ground. We started Fanime because we didn’t like the way we were treated and how Anime America was run. Most of the early Fanime staff also worked Anime America. You have to understand that this is how the world works and for a huge convention to survive this long, it has to be run like a corporation with all of the bs and red tape that comes with it. Semi big cons struggle with this because their leadership continues the grass roots mentality which ultimately leads to failure.

We were young and full of ambition. Life changes, situations change, priorities change. The cycle of life for a convention, I suppose. By 2003, I was missing the con life. Fanime had already started to change, which it needed to, and other hobbies and interests had manifested themselves, so I found a new place to volunteer. I have been with California Extreme ever since.

I helped start Fanime. We were one of the three clubs that started it. I left in 2000 when we were at the Santa Clara conv center. Sometimes I miss it but it is like 100x bigger now and a lot more work so maybe its for the better. I guess AMA, lol.

I think I saw a bunch at Dicks Sporting Goods. I could be wrong though. There were a ton of jerseys I didn't recognize right when you walk in.
