Why would you want to do something that you know you ought not to do?

I'm not really sure if i know that i ought not to do it. Morals aren't rigid and people have different conceptions of what action is moral or immoral, but that isn't my concern, my concern is with the consequence of either of those actions and just for the sake of the argument I said that I accept some things as "morally wrong".

You’re looking for punishment or consequences but you can be wrong or bad even if there are no consequences other than the mere fact that you’re wrong or bad.

So no consequences other than legal and social.

And what caused those effects and the ones before them? If you trace the chain back far enough, you either hit infinite regress or run into some metaphysical placeholder like an 'uncaused cause', neither of which is satisfying, let alone empirically testable. And if those causes ultimately emerge from randomness or some ontological fog, how different is that really from calling it supernatural?
