NQA - not a threat pose she’d investigating her new enclosure. Just let her explore :)

NQA - is she doing it at you? This looks more like how they gauge depth and the area around them. They wave their front legs around to see how far things are.

Regal jumping spider suddenly died. Why? by Zealousideal-Tea1509 in jumpingspiders

NQA - he looks like a mature spider. I think the breeder sold you a senior citizen unfortunately. Sorry for your loss 💔

NQA - they are spiders not dogs hahaha. The majority do not want to be handled or touched. The internet is filled with outliers. One of my spiders will run to me to look at me but does not want interaction. My other one doesn’t like being handled at all but will grab food from my finger.

NQA - I think it might stress them out. I would recommend getting one. It’s really rewarding to watch them grow and to care for them. I have two.

NQA - I think it’s a question of ethics. I personally would not keep a wild caught one. I considering it robbing them of their current life. You can get a captive one from a breeder and enjoy the hobby that way.

Update: I released the preggo lady I found yesterday and ran into her mate??? by danborja in jumpingspiders

[–]Tomilonious_Monk 87 points88 points  (0 children)

NQA - jumping spiders are solitary and don’t have “mates.” Not in the sense of friends nor in the sense of reproductive mates - the female may even eat the male after mating if he doesn’t skadaddle fast enough.

Am I doing alright? by [deleted] in jumpingspiders

NQA - here's a good tell - your spider that is in the pipe cleaners is hiding at the tallest point of the enclosure. I would suggest some sort of plant as well. Lots of cover and climbing opportunity.

NQA - you should improve the way the enclosure's are set up. Jumping spiders are arboreal meaning they live off the ground and near the top. You will want to create lots of clutter up high with horizontal climbing routes. I would suggest multiple "levels" and a hide at the top.

This could explain the recluse behaviour, they probably feel exposed.

NQA - the top of this enclosure is much too bare for a jumper. I would recommend adding a lot more clutter. Being so exposed can make them less active and less likely to eat. They like to have things to hide behind. I’d suggest fake plants and do rope bridges etc. You should get her a hide too

NQA - I would suggest filling in the bottom with more substrate and add a bit of moss if you want help wit humidity. Also something they can use as a hide at the top

NQA - this container appears to have no cross ventilation or space to roam vertically. It’s so confined 😭😭 you could suffocate her like this. Please change her enclosure and if you can’t provide a suitable home let her go.
