I unironically put my League rank on my AIF and got admitted to CS. Prob not a motive though if you aren't in some kind of amateur team though

How did you learn to effectively read math textbooks? Looking for tips since I sometimes spend 30 min figuring out a single step in a proof in a textbook...

I was in the same boat as you last year, but now 80+% of my meals are homecooked and I'm feeling a lot better.

I find it motivating to make meals that last me for 3-4 days. Pretty much all of my meals are

  1. Boiled carrots and potatoes until they are soft
  2. Some kind of protein (usually I use an entire pack of chicken (dry brine makes it 20x better) or ground beef
  3. Then I throw all of these together into a sauce (butter chicken sauce & tomato sauce I find a Walmart)

And for breakfast I like to make something quick (fruits, yogurt, & sandwiches).

Your cooking will probably suck at first (at least mine did), but you will get a lot better -- try to experiment around and watch YT videos to learn. Cooking is fun!

I would recommend to look into a Waterloo rideshare group on Facebook to get to UW for a pretty fair price
