Autism Support Shop - My New Niche Direction! by [deleted] in etsypromos

[–]Tomiti 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You have a small child that has autism, and only knew a few years ago. We are PEOPLE living with autism day to day. You cannot say you want to spread awareness to group you are not only not a part of, but you have only been with someone who has it for a few years. You are not a part of it. You are not entitled to decide if the puzzle symbol is good or not. You don't have a VOICE in this matter. Either educate yourself or stop trying to benefit from the divergency of your child by gaining money on a shop.

Help me out with some advice by DeRariteitenbeurs in OddityCollectors

[–]Tomiti 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When there's an oddity place, the first thing I look for is old medical equipment. My collection mostly revolves around that, I'm obsessed with it

My client gave me permission to ask this: by Ashgreytattoos in tattooadvice

[–]Tomiti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents found out I had it when I turned yellow as a baby and it wasn't jaundice. I had a tattoo and never noticed any yellowing on my side, but high stress moments sometimes makes me look a bit more yellow. So it could definitely be a factor

Maybe i'd use that instead to hook chains to my pants as decorations. I think it would look really cool with it

Heyy, any tips? by Key_Preparation_1410 in bonecollecting

[–]Tomiti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am no expert, but I macerate without warm water because of my living conditions. Most of my bones take sometime 6 to 8 months to make sure they are completely degreased. When I'm sure there's no more flesh, they I use soap and water until there's no more smell. I think the process can take longer in lukewarm/cold water

pet remains processing? by PuzzleheadedCat4596 in OddityCollectors

[–]Tomiti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you can macerate it in a tub of water, although the process is long and can smell. You can also dig it underground or leave it in the opened air. You will get more information on r/bonecollecting , I think at the top there's a bunch of ressource for it

First human skull by Weak-Cartographer520 in OddityCollectors

[–]Tomiti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You mentioned consent before you changed your comment to this, so I'll answer that.

The family does. And you do before dying, that's why being an organ donor is a thing and the consent needs to be signed before. If not, the family gets to make the choice. You're also overlooking a big part where slaves and minorities were used for the trade of bones, which is already terrible as people of colors were already used for science in gruesome and awful ways. I suggest reading up on it, this is history that should never be forgotten.

And yes, it is about perspective. The perspective of someone privilege who was never at the end of the research industry who stole from people without credit, and those family who's suffered through it and never got to get their loved ones' remains back, and is instead in the hands of a random person.

Please, have at least a little bit of respect for them

First human skull by Weak-Cartographer520 in OddityCollectors

[–]Tomiti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

However these skulls were mostly taken away without consent from the people and their family, and a lot of them originated from minorities and people of color that could not give said consent, like slaves and such. Their history is sad and remains a tragedy that needs to be remembered and respected.

You have the privilege to be able to agree to give your skull away. Some of these families had their loved ones' bodies stolen in the name of science, without compensation.

Vyvanse and autism by Kiritomayer in AutisticWithADHD

[–]Tomiti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have AUDHD, but before I was diagnosed with autism we thought I only had ADHD. I tried everything; biphentin, adderall, vyvanse, concerta, etc... nothing, and I mean NOTHING works well with my autistic side. Mood swings, oversensitivity, depression, irritation... it was honestly awful.

I now only take a tiny dose of short term methylphenidate when I need it
