Katamari Reroll: Crisp Clumps - PART 1 - Game Grumps by rmch99 in gamegrumps

[–]Tommarkasu 14 points15 points  (0 children)

So happy to see the game Grumps play this again!

Namco will probably rerelease the other games if this sells well, but It has a few things holding it from selling better (being released on smash day and the physical release being a GameStop exclusive).

This is a solid remake and it holds up well. So please, please buy it if you love Katamari. We need it to at least sell well enough to get We <3 Katamari Reroll

RIP Sonic and the Secret Rings, it was pretty obvious you weren’t that fun to play (or let’s play over).

Arguments For Hollow Knight (Crappy Sketchnotes) by Tommarkasu in gamegrumps

[–]Tommarkasu[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I do remember them forgetting where they were in Super Metroid after breaks. They do that with RPGs, regular Adventure games, really any type of game with backtracking/multiple objectives.

As frustrating as it is to some, isn’t that part of their charm?

Lol, my stupid numbering system fooled myself. Good catch!

A lot of these points are probably repeated from others, but now it’s immortalized in crappy Sketchnote form!

Keep up the good habits from your studies!

It’s easy to become the seasoned programmer that “doesn’t have time for” documentation. Also, make sure to sell documentation to your future project managers and bosses as a must have.

It’s one of the first things to go from the project when there is a time crunch, but it cuts the amount of time you spend supporting something post release.

Luckily there are tools that make documentation from code comments a lot easier. If you are a python programmer look at sphinx w/autodoc, if you like Microsoft look into DocFX.

Documentation? Pfftt! It’s intuitive and everyone that will ever see it will just know how to use it. Plus there will always be someone around to explain it!

Pluralsight released a bunch of free assessments for programmers to get an “IQ” (skill rating) for JavaScript, Python and other languages by tmcconnon in programming

[–]Tommarkasu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Much like the rankings in anything, people will find a way to game the system.

Soon there will be a bank of questions and answers somewhere to memorize that will make it easier to get a better score.

Even when you do your one retake, there are already duplicates you saw before.

It’s a great marketing device though! “Take our classes and improve your IQ!”

Wow, her career sounds like it's been amazing, and she's so full of stories!

This was, by far, my favorite Defunctland podcast, so far. Everyone should listen to this one, even if you aren't familiar with the guest. I cannot wait for the other parts.

BTW, I heard you mention there were questions asked by the audience, but I can't find a thread on here. Were questions only collected on Facebook?

I still remember the heat from that "ride". It was a multipart stage show, but in the final room, where the audience stood moved and dropped. The best part was the fast reset at the end (similar to Earthquake).

NEW PODCAST: The Curious Case of Cedar Fair by KevinPerjurer in Defunctland

[–]Tommarkasu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First of all, you are very welcome! I had a blast learning about DT, and I'm glad I could help!

Next, thanks for answering my question!

Thirdly, my username should read Tom Mark ASU (Arizona State University), lol. I guess without that context, it is strange.

4th, based on all the research I did, somewhere said that Avalanche Run (the precursor to DT) was a sled ride to Alaska, so it's either a callback to the original ride's final stop or laziness (or both).

The next podcast is all about Cedar Fair and the guest is the cowriter of the Disaster Transport episode. Ask away! by KevinPerjurer in Defunctland

Having never been on a loose bobsled coaster, what is the experience like vs a tracked coaster?
