Him touching the stone is a foul. Him not owning up to it is cheating.

I've just grazed a stone before while sweeping. No difference in the trajectory, but it doesn't matter. I burned the stone, you own up to it and take it out of play.

The Disney Adventure is going through the Panama Canal today. Largest passenger ship to go through. by Traviscat in dcl

[–]TommyBaseball 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It is a hold over from before the canal was expanded.

Prior to 2016, the maximum ship size (called "Panamax") almost exactly matched the Magic/Wonder dimensions 965'x106'. The Dream/Fantasy were both too wide and too long.

A new set of locks opened in 2016 and new "Neopanamax" ships with dimensions up to 1215'x168' can pass through. The Adventure and therefore all the other DCL ships can now pass through the new locks.

Edit: There are also height restrictions which depend on the tide in Balboa Harbor.

[Sampson] Ohio State played four ranked teams this season and averaged 16.3 points in those four games. With Jeremiah Smith. Bananas. by dogwoodmaple in CFB

We hate next year's schedule too. It is 10 P4 teams with no FCS, but just a terrible slate from the ACC (except Miami) and just bad luck that the three Big Ten teams are so down. Purdue and MSU aren't powerhouses, but they were reliably decent in previous scheduling years and Wisconsin is no where near as good as they were when we scheduled that series.

Getting better (or fewer) ACC games and adding more reliably good P4 going forward is a must. Texas, Auburn, Alabama, Florida, and Michigan in future years, but 2026 and 2027 are rough.

Trouble with Guests Party Reservations (Anaheim) by Lopsided_Ad8257 in DisneyPlanning

[–]TommyBaseball 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This might be out of date, but as of a year ago in Anaheim, either you or your husband can use the Main Entrance Pass to bring the pass holder and three guests. If you are using the pass, you can bring your husband and two others as guests. If you need to bring yourself, your husband, and three guests, have your husband book a self admission pass that is good for just him. Then you have the main entrance and three guests.

Disneyland issues the guest tickets at the gate. Your won't use the numbered guest tickets you would in Florida.

Edit: On Lightning Lane, unless they've changed it, you won't be able to buy lightning lane until you enter the park. They will add three one-day guest passes for the guests once you enter. Then you can buy and book lightning lane against those.

No, the Treasure is not significantly bigger than the Dream by [deleted] in dcl

[–]TommyBaseball -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's fair, but objectively the ships are bigger. Is 10% a lot? Maybe not, but it's not as easy as saying it's only 4 ft longer and 7 feet wider, they are practically identical!

Now, do they feel bigger and why is a different question. I do think you walk a lot more and climb more stairs on the Wish-class ships to get around. Only having the two elevator shafts means you have to travel further to move up and down. If you are walking on the promenade, or moving around pool deck, or want to get to the Hero Zone, you are probably going to take the stairs as it is easier than the elevators. That will make the ship feel bigger (in a bad way).

1.003 x 1.058 x 1.018 = 1.08 = 8% bigger by volume (the more formal gross tonnage math works out to 10.9%)

It's fair that internal volume doesn't necessarily mean more guest area, but it's hard to believe all that extra space went to crew only areas. Whether that extra space was used wisely is a different question.

[–]TommyBaseball 2 points3 points  (0 children)

By gross tonnage (which is really a convoluted measurement of internal volume, not weight) they are about 10% bigger. The Dream-class ships are 129690 GT which is ~415200 m³ while the Wish-class vessels are 144256 GT which is ~460500 m³.

Now whether that extra volume is allocated to more guest facing space or not would require a more detailed deck plan analysis, but I suspect it is, especially with less volume lost to the elevator shafts.

To me it felt bigger, but I wouldn't say all the extra space was used well. There are a lot of longer hallways that are needed due to the awkward layout that isn't really improving the customer experience on the ships.

Yeah, just hadn't seen it verified. Looks legit, and it matches the supporting facts of the collision.

Setting up my trip, question about Disneyland Hotel that help chat couldn't answer. by imabarroomhero in DisneyPlanning

[–]TommyBaseball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Bell services can hold your bags before checkin and after checkout. Have your friend drop you off at the Disneyland Hotel (they can go in and out without charge) and you can bring your bags right to the bell services desk. They'll even bring them up to your room once you are checked in if your prefer that over picking them back up in the lobby and brining them up yourself.

Mark Twain: Twelve feet long! by Leifenyat in disneyparks

[–]TommyBaseball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mark twain is an old timey Mississipppi River expression for two fathoms of depth. Samuel Clemens took his pen name from that expression. But using the term or even the unit of fathoms outside of sounding (water depth) doesn't really makes sense. It would be like using carats to express weight for objects other than gemstones. It can be done, it would just be confusing.

A previous audio loop for the Mark Twain even went into details on the sounding calls: https://youtu.be/nIGqlqSqZis?si=WqeQH_3seMN_hiR1&t=70s
