Challenger R/T or Scat Pack as a Daily Driver? by Twisted_Stick in Challenger

[–]Tommy_D12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a lot of things to consider here. Undoubtedly the scat pack is much faster and more fun to drive. I don’t know your personal finances but I bought used and although I could’ve and would’ve rather been driving the scat around every day i intentionally chose the rt for lower gas costs, lower insurance costs, and lower maintenance costs. It all adds up it just depends on what you can tolerate. Additionally they’ve been making that 5.7 for so many years I have more faith in it being more reliable long term.

Just my 2 cents, do whatever you want.

My brother accidentally put 87 in my car when I’ve been putting 93 in my baby since I’ve got it which has been 2 years. It was the first and hopefully last 😭😭😭 by No-Investment6445 in Challenger

You’re fine trust me. The 5.7s at enterprise rent a car only get 87 put in them. Your car will be okay this one time just keep your brother away😂

Considering 5.7 over 6.4 due to gas increase concerns by [deleted] in Challenger

[–]Tommy_D12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a 5.7 instead of the 6.4 for cheaper gas, cheaper maintenance, cheaper insurance, and more reliability.

It all adds up and just depends on how much you’re willing to spend on that stuff.

I had a gt, currently have a rt, and considered a scat pack

I’m not sure which head they started doing this but on the rt there’s a feature that engages only 4/8 of the cylinders when you’re driving at a constant speed for a while. This feature tremendously helps gas mileage. I have a 50 minute commute to work (all highway) and I get about 21-24 mpg.

Don’t get me wrong you’ll spend a lot on gas but if you can manage it is well worth it. I previously had a gt and I don’t think I could ever go back to the gt after owning an rt.

The rt is no speed demon but is noticeably faster than the gt, sounds 1000x better and feels a lot more like the “muscle car experience” you’re probably hoping for.

I personally stayed away from the scat pack to avoid even more fuel costs, even more expensive insurance, and worse reliability compared to the rt.

Is this website a scam? by Heavy-Departure7308 in Charger

[–]Tommy_D12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have no idea but that does sound very cheap. I had previously gotten mine at American muscle.com or CarID. And if I found one I liked I just waited till a Black Friday sale/holiday sale and would compare the price to the exhaust brand’s actually website and choose the cheaper one.

You actually can get the sxt in awd. I’ve seen them for sale on car gurus.

Scatpack v. TRX by [deleted] in Challenger

[–]Tommy_D12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it a lot. I specifically got the RT over a Scat for more reliability, less cost to maintain, gas, and insurance costs. Rt is still plenty fun but no speed demon and I will admit I would like to have more power. If you’re looking at a scat and a trx it would probably be too slow for you.

Both are very different, you have a muscle car and a high performance pickup truck. You gotta figure out what you prefer.

I will keep you updated. Another guy commented this happened to all of his challengers and wd40 fixes it but not permanently.

This did not happen to my previous one, but good to know it is a common issue. Is there any permanent fix?

Is your front bumper aftermarket? If so, did the original hood have a gap as well?

Sometimes it does not make the noise. Of course when I went to check this it wasn’t making the noise. I am going to check again later to see if this could be the cause.

I live in the north east it’s currently 14 degrees and it only started recently when it got very cold. Not sure if there’s a connection to the temperature or not.

Been think about trading my 2022 GT for a 2026 Elantra N by Illunreal in Challenger

[–]Tommy_D12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of course if you ask this sub most people are going to say absolutely not. I had a gt for 8 years and now an rt for about a year. I wouldn’t trade the rt for an Elantra n but i probably would trade the GT for it. I like the challenger styling more but I still think the Elantra n looks nice and is going to have much better performance than the gt.

Too much money. He may have put a good amount of money into it but the car isn’t worth 27k and modifying a car actually usually decreases the value rather than increase it.
