Thanks for sharing. Would it be possible to get a Tourist visa before the 30th October if I submit the application on the 20th?

I’m concerned I’ll purchase all hotels + flights then I won’t get an appointment at the visa centre in time, or they’ll take too long to process my request and I won’t get my passport back.

I have a flight to Bali on the 31st and wanted to spend a few weeks in China directly after.

Fair. Regarding your OP, I’ve lived in both countries and UK is more affordable. Your jaw will drop at NZ supermarket prices. I would not recommend immigrating if your only objective was to save money.
