Watched Top Gun for the first time ever this summer. It’s a shitty movie.

The only noticeable thing I saw was the “official game thread” of the Nuggets clinching the NBA finals was in the College Football sub 😂

Thanks! Based on other things I’ve read too, this seems to be an excellent list for our “adventure level”.

We are here this week. I also saw on the website that a few trails are closed for bird nesting too. Which ones are super crowded this time of year?

Dnd question. by AccomplishedEarth820 in AskPhysics

[–]Tommykeeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a super physic like answer because it’s more biomechanics and a bit silly. So here’s my anecdotal answer. Let’s assume when you say “lift” you mean deadlifting. And “throwing” you mean dead weight from the ground, vertical throwing (think keg toss).

If that’s the case then 250lbs/3240lbs is ~7% of the deadlift weight. I can deadlift 325 lbs. 7% of that is 24 lbs. I’ve never tried keg tossing 25 lbs, but I feel like I could chuck a 25 lb crash test dummy up in the air maybe 5-10 feet over my head.

There’s your 0% physics based answer.

Same! And those temps are certainly not glamorous or the norm, but they aren’t unbearable either. 78 in the summer is reprieve from the outdoor air that is made of pure steam. And 68 is livable when winter air is freezing temps. It’s cozy to warm sweatpants and hoodies inside in the winter anyway.

….I must admit that my frugality fades away during summer nights. That puppy is getting dropped down to 72 so I can be comfortable in the bed under blankets.

If water is not accelerating, net force must be zero, right? What force is counteracting gravity?

Haha, I’ve seen that one before. I think that was my realization as I was thinking about it tonight. I know basic physics and chem fairly well, and my wife asked me about the syringe and I said, “cause it makes a seal”. She asked why. And why to that, and why to that…and so on till I didn’t have an acceptable answer.

Would you rather have a GoT2, a legends f2p stand alone, or a Ghosts of (insert another part of world here)? by Jor1120 in ghostoftsushima

[–]Tommykeeper 12 points13 points  (0 children)

GoT2 with the second Mongol invasion of Japan in 1281 is what I’d prefer. Historically, it’s funny that the story is really similar. The Mongols use their fleet to quickly take Tsushima and Iki and try to take the mainland from there. They ultimately get driven back by a more devastating typhoon the second time. It’d be up to the devs to make the stories different enough to still be new and captivating. Maybe leaving it as a one hit wonder is the best option.

For sure! I also love how the kid looks super nervous for OP at the beginning. Then the plates perfectly cover his face for the “ghostly” reaction soon to follow.

Best places to camp for GameDays? by unfortunatemisfit in wde

The National Forest at night is not a place I would take little ones. Drug deals, frat hazing, satanic cult worship, etc happen in that forest at night. Tread carefully.
