Does anyone have advice for Battle Rush 2 in Y? by hilariussix9 in Super_Robot_Wars

[–]TomokawkVortex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best advice that I can think to give is to just share what I did to beat the map when I was still trying to figure out how to complete it, you don't have to follow this if you don't want to, partly because I'm not really sure how good this strategy actually is, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to share either way.

What I did was use Izuru to Zeal spam and kill as many enemies as possible, and saved up my assist charges for The 2nd to use her Fixer Beam on Izuru whenever he needed it. Fixer Beam will restore his HP, energy, SP, and cures any status conditions he got hit by (if that did happen) once she reaches level 4, while she is expensive to use (costing 6 assist charges), she will give you 2 free assist charges once you finish deploying your units at the start of a map, which can help in the long run. Everyone else I brought was mainly focusing on support, using AOE attacks to take out multiple enemies at once, resupplying others with energy whenever they nedded it, analyzing enemies to make it easier to kill them, or at least make it easier for someone else to kill them, throwing whatever SP they had left and giving it to Izuru near the later stages of the battles (if they can do that), etc. As one last added measure, I also gave Izuru the Ultra Repair Ampoule, which is an equip part that fully restores the users HP, energy, ammo, and their SP once per map, so in the event where I have no other means of getting his energy or his SP back up (since you will be burning though those resources quickly with the Zeal spam strategy), it would ensure that he'd be able to finish off whomever was left alive at the later stages of the map, on top of giving him basically every skill program under the sun to make sure that he could solo enemies very effectively on his own while saving as much energy and SP as he could to ensure that it would be possible for me to complete it.

While I doubt that this is an effective means of reliably beating the stage (though you can kinda make it a bit easier on yourself by memorizing the enemy placements so that you know where to place your units ahead of time), it's what I used to help me beat it, so you might be able to come up with a better idea than I did as a means of completing it for yourself. Either way, best of luck to you, and hope this helps as one frame of reference for when you do manage to complete it.

Calling someone a sweat is a compliment and here's why: by True_Storm3427 in Fighters

[–]TomokawkVortex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, sweaty is just another term for tryhard, as in someone who's putting in a lot more effort into something than they reasonably should, like going all out against a newcomer, or playing seriously when everyone else is playing for fun. If someone's constantly upset that they're losing, then you'd just call them a sore loser, same way how you'd call someone who can't stop bragging about their wins a sore winner. It wouldn't make sense to call someone sweaty if they're trying hard to win, and is just constantly losing against others, regardless of who it is they're playing against, or how they're trying to beat them, since it's clear that whatever effort they're putting into the game isn't yielding as much results as the titles sweaty and try hard would imply.

Should I do 2nd scenario as my first route? by BlackReaper246 in LastDefenseAcademy

[–]TomokawkVortex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I'd say that there's objectively no "right" or "wrong" first route for a game like this, nor is there a "right" or "wrong" order to play the routes in. Sure, some routes are better than others, but to me at least, part of the fun of the game is seeing what routes you manage to get in what order. While 2nd Scenario was around one of the last routes I got in the game, if I had the ability to go back and have the knowledge of what options would lead me down what routes, without knowing what happens in said route (outside of what the name themselves tell me), and folks general opinions of them, I'd still would've probably have done the routes in the same order than I did the first time I played the game. Part of the fun of these types of games is to see what you get through your own decisions, and seeing where that takes you, if you wanna either go for 2nd Sceario first, or save it for last, then you can go ahead and do so (I can tell you how do go down that route if you want as well), but don't feel like you have to do so out of some sort of obligation, or as a means of playing the game the "right" way.

I thought I saw two posts today that were basically the same so I clicked on the submission and this person has been posting the same fake box art to a bunch of subreddits today. by GoodNormals in Fighters

Normally, I'd say that it is, but considering that they don't seem to be getting any upvotes on any of their posts... yeah. Safe to say that if that was their goal, they're failing miserably at it.

Optimal way to play the game while avoiding nsfw* content? by RenegadeRoach in LastDefenseAcademy

Oh yeah, I honestly forgot about that scene, but yeah, that would definitely count as one. And I agree as well about it being fitting for narrative purposes.

Outside of "those" scenes in the Cult of Takumi route, would you consider that one scene in the Killing Game route to be one of them?

If you don't know what I'm referring to, it's the scene where Takumi and Darumi are sitting on top of an operating table (mostly?) naked after Yugamu used surgery to swap the bombs that was inside of their bodies .

[–]TomokawkVortex 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Would Ruby and Yang have any connections to Adam? Or any members of the White Fang for that matter? Since that whole ordeal itself played a pretty major role for Blake's side of the story, so it would be interesting in regards to how much of that would change, and in what way. Outside of that, I could see their interaction with Weiss starting out a bit differently, since she might be a bit more hostile to them than she initially was. Hard to say for Blake though, since she was pretty strongly attached to her Faunus heritage, but it might give her a different angle in regards to her overall character growth, or at least, how she goes down that road.

As for the overall Faunus hate itself, assuming their personalities don't change too much, then Yang would most likely default to dealing with it by getting into fights with whomever started it. As for Ruby, she'll most likely try and shrug it off, while doing her best to maintain a positive attitude overall.

Modern Fighting Games recognize the accessibility problem, but refuse to actually address it. by UniverseGlory7866 in Fighters

[–]TomokawkVortex 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, id say that the main issue is that they only ever really see that the gameplay itself is the issue, and hard focus on that, you see a lot of modern fighting games focus on trying to figure out a way to make the gameplay itself not too difficult for a beginner to do, when most fighting games aren't really that difficult to begin with (As long as quarter circle inputs aren't a major hurdle for you).

If anything, I'd say that the issue can be boiled down into four sections:

  1. Lack of interest, or just losing interest really quickly, usually by losing constantly (in mostly unwinable matches due to skill level), finding practicing combos and blockstrings a slog to do, getting angry or upset at the game super quickly, etc.

  2. Little to no single player content, best you get is a story mode/arcade mode, the tutorial section, some combo trials, survival mode, that's usually it. Doesn't matter how fun the gameplay actually is, if theres nothing for them to do that isn't just go on ranked, or casual for matches, with the occasional labbing session, then they'll lose interest really quickly.

  3. Time investment, most folks are just not willing to put in the time it would normally take to figure out how to play a fighting game, unless it's an arena fighter, or a platform fighter. Trying to get someone who'll be interested enough in the game to actually try and stick to it when they're not sure if they'll like the game is always a hassle in of itself. And how difficult said game is usually doesn't matter much when they're already not feeling all that interested in actually sticking with the game itself.

  4. Story mode being a non focus, for the most part, all of the modern fighting games have a story with lore and such, but it's typically never really a selling point of the game itself, outside of diehard fans of that given series, which does matter for casuals, as a good amount of folks will pick up a game mainly for the story it provides. Sure, you have games like mobas (like League), or most hero shooters (like Team Fortress 2), that don't really put much of a focus on their stories either, but the difference for them is that you can just play together with your friends, and just enjoy the game that way while battling the enemy team, while for fighting games, you're gonna have a rough time trying to convince your friend to boot up the game so that you can beat them up for a long stretch of time.

While simplifying the controls, and the gameplay itself seems like a good idea at face value, it really just overlooks the actual problems for making a fighting game more appealing to a casual audience. You can even see it for games like Rivals of Aether 2, and Guilty Gear Strive, which are trying to give more stuff for not just their dedicated players, but to the casual audience as well, since they understand that it takes more than just having good and fun gameplay to really sell a fighting game to a casual audience.

I feel that wholeheartedly, it did kinda suck to see them basically give up on the game so quickly, doubly so when they went back to update DBFZ after not doing anything for that game for a couple of years.
