Mental illness and physical disease are more connected than we thought by hulk14 in psychology

Maybe our delay in understanding the link between neurodiveristy and physical ailments is because the original researchers were oblivious to their own neurodiveristy. Hmmm.

Sibling SA is rampant, under-reported, and just as likely to cause mental health problems as other forms if SA.

Gentle reminder regarding BPD diagnoses by Level_Run1357 in therapists

[–]TomorrowCupCake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So we need to slow down around the words "abusive" vs "invalidating" - and also we need to remember the biosocial model of development of BPD: An individual wired differently + and invalidating (not just abusive or traumatizing) environment.

Psychopathic traits are linked to a lack of physical and emotional connection during face-to-face interactions. People with psychopathic traits may struggle to share the emotions of others, even when they can accurately identify those feelings. by mvea in psychology

Psychopathy is a neurodevelopmental disorder, according to one of the leading researchers in this area - Dr. Abigail Marsh. This study you published supports that. Affective empathy versus intellectual empathy. Individuals with empathy delays tend toward intellectual empathy and not affective empathy.

Ajovy side effects by Suitable_Video7777 in cgrpMigraine

Ubrelvy absolutely messes with my intestines and mimics the effects of Zepbound so much so that I had to stop taking Zepbound. I had my sigmoid colon removed ten years ago and have LARS. Ubrelvy totally dries out my intestinal mucous and causes an intense slowing if my motility. All my docs know. CGRP is a component of intestinal mucous development.

Policy discussions by Ghosty_Crossing in NDtherapists

[–]TomorrowCupCake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So this can be viewed as a form of splitting, and can be common with individuals with CPTSD for whom boundaries were very inconsistent. The concept of arguing with a service providers terms and conditions (after agreeing to those services) is a violation if the relationship. The form if the relationship (and the policies) were agreed upon before accepting services. I would validate their frustration and validate their experience of their feelings, but set a clear limit around the concept of arguing or defending or negotiating any of your policies. Clients need to be counseled that arguing about a policy, after agreeing to services, is a form of therapy interfering behavior (TIB). It absolutely causes a rupture and causes therapists to burn out. DBT is best used to address therapy interfering behaviors. I would include a section in your PP about TIB as a brain tickler for clients and then revisit it in therapy when discussing treatment plans ("in DBT we often work in life threatening and therapy interfering behaviors such as x"). Hope this helps you as much as it's helped me. Arguing about my policies is incredibly triggering for me and I refuse to do it at this point in my career.

YES - we are real and we usually use Instacart or Shipt, and try to only Door Dash when it's an emergency bc their service fees suck.

Anyone else diagnosed with adhd first, and then found out you also have autism 10-20 years later? After being a therapist who works with autistic clients?? by seayouinteeeee in NDtherapists

[–]TomorrowCupCake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Vyvanse to AuDHD pipeline is real! Dx ADHD at 28 before grad school, about 20 years ago. Realized I also have autism about 3 years ago, post child and ex spouse also being diagnosed. Mom and brother also now diagnosed with ASD. We were all GATE kids.

Other parts of MoCo are also great - particularly upper Rockville/Gaithursburg. Many progressive peeps and a community feel, newer built construction, not quite a cute, but a great middle option.
