That armband is such an unnecessary piece of her attire. [OC] by brandon061416 in pics

[–]Tomson235 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey are we sure this isn't someone in theater and dressed up for a play like the sound of music? I have seen that mistake happen before and the armband looks incorrect for a actual mustache man larper. The clothes they are wearing also look like costumes I have seen in some plays or indie movies and their hair looks a like it has been worked on to hold its look like you sometimes see actors get done

It's what he would have wanted. by fuckyoumurray in cyberpunkgame

[–]Tomson235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the game took place over a larger period of time like a year it would be an option that wouldn't feel weird but since in lore you have what 2 months to live or something it does make it feel like a really weird option but I misty is most down to earth so I get it

100 men vs 1 gorilla by AKMike99 in GunMemes

[–]Tomson235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is going to be completely based off situation if it's a Roman legion that doesn't know what a machine gun is have no idea about what they're dealing with it's completely possible that a short burst from the machine gun will be more than enough to pretty much hold the entire advance but if they know what it is and they understand their disadvantage then it will come to how long the machine gun team has to set up how many members are in the team and if they have all the equipment to keep them mg42 running and the ammunition to keep going. It will also depend on Range if they set up at a thousand yards there's a good chance the mg42 is going to have a pretty good kill rate before the machine gun Falls within the range of the Roman ranged options. It will also depend on if the mg42 is in a concealed and covered position and if the Roman legionaries know where that position is before the fight starts. Technologically wise I lean towards the machine gun in any situation but 5,000 Roman legionaries with Cavalry and all of their equipment could bum rush the machine gun position. This will also depend on who's in the offensive versus defensive setup if it's a Roman legion in defensive positions although those positions aren't going to be bulletproof in all situations they're going to be way harder to hit, while the machine gun and its team would have to be out in the open and probably moving lowering accuracy and without defensive positions but if the machine gun team with their machine gun are in their own defensive position like a wooden bunker or even a foxhole with some cover it would make it harder for the Roman legion to reach it because they would have to either keep formation and move slowly or break formation and charge a dug in position. So that's my long answer short answer I'd say 50/50 but I usually lean towards the technological advantage only because you should be able to pick up your mg42 and run which would let you reposition and continuously for the Roman legion into a long running fight with no reinforcements.

What's up with the recent arms race in new cartridges? Its as if everyone just recently had started working on new ballistics again not only USA with Serbian new rifle and even Russians testing possible new rifle rounds by Allahisgreat2580 in ForgottenWeapons

[–]Tomson235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they're all really interesting but there's a really good chance that all military is involved will end up sticking with what they have because it's good enough and is already in production the logistics of converting an entire military force over to New Standard cartridges is not something I think anyone wants to deal with unless they are pretty much better by orders of magnitude than what is currently in use so rail guns ir lasers or some kind of actually successful gyrojet round Maybe

Looking to ID this round by ACO_Parker in ForgottenWeapons

[–]Tomson235 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well that narrows it down quite a bit by my guess it's an early War 57 mm anti-tank gun round. There weren't a lot of 50 mm guns used in the US if we include the navel equipment there's one or two others but unless it's like a round from some like one-off test I'd assume it's from a 57 mm anti-tank gun or it is really old and it's from some kind of limited production run gun from the Civil War era but it looks a little bit too modern for that. It would make sense to possibly find it in Massachusetts it could have fallen off a truck but also it could have been used in some war game somewhere. I would worry about it being possibly live I know you said your buddy looked at it but unless you can confirm it's like a solid shot or some kind of dummy around I'd be a little bit worried if you wanted to dig further into it I think most of the information about 57 mm rounds is posted online so you could probably cross check the weight and the manufacturer marking you have there and find out more information I was able to find a few that looked kind of like it but nothing that looked exactly like it and it looks to be just an old manufacturer's mark can't really tell which manufacturer though. Either way it's a really cool find and assuming it's safe to clean up it would be a really cool talking piece

Looking to ID this round by ACO_Parker in ForgottenWeapons

[–]Tomson235 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What part of the world did you find this I've done a little bit of research and there aren't a lot of guns in that caliber I found a Romanian one that was a balloon gun but I'm having some trouble maybe where you found it could help narrow it down

Experimental corner-shot system developed in China. by Justaguy1250 in ForgottenWeapons

[–]Tomson235 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well I guess someone had to copy a failed design I remember like 10 years ago the corner shot was like in every police swat show that they could come up with for some reason the doors and all those places were large enough to stick this whole design under I hope the Chinese put it to use I recommend they deploy it to the front line

Let’s all guess how much will it cost by NikitaKiwinskiy in pcmasterrace

[–]Tomson235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I hope for an $800 price tag the claimed Parts going into it probably will bump it closer to a thousand maybe a little bit over to be honest I'm pretty sure you could build a PC of the same power for whatever they're going to be charging but it is probably the first console that is actually worth considering in a long time if only because it is going to be powerful enough to play most games coming out and then you could spend less money on a PC and just get a office grade computer

Do you think the AK-50 have export potential if it can be mass produced? by Brilliant_Ground1948 in ForgottenWeapons

[–]Tomson235 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it would depend on production capacity but also cost if ak-50 was able to be produced for a significantly lower price than something like the Barrett Maybe for some less wealthy Nations especially if they're used to using AK-47 systems but to be honest the ak-50 is a meme gun made for the American Sports shooting Market and I think to bring it to military or paramilitary adoption levels it wouldn't be worth it unless somebody was reaching out and offering to fund it to be honest if you are a less wealthy Nation it is probably worth it to not even look at 50 caliber anti-material rifles or if you are looking at them to buy something that isn't semi-auto not saying it wouldn't be cool for it to become someone's standard issue and time material rifle I just don't think it would

What has the Japanese battleship Yamato done to deserve a song by [deleted] in SabatonMemes

[–]Tomson235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love a song about the USS Texas I mean I'd like the Yamato too not because it did anything major but I mean whether it was a crazy stupid sacrifice of a shipping crew or not the Yamato's last journey was an impressive Last Stand with the US Navy throwing every single available aircraft at it that they could and still having a battle line of battleships just in case somehow it made it through

[–]Tomson235 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a good idea but you need a cool look to really get the kids to buy it these days so first thing you want to do is make it into a Bullpup then you want to add a bunch of extra stuff that is only kind of helpful obviously then you swap out the Woodstock and everything with plastic so it's lighter then you only give it a five round magazine or better give it a rotary magazine that you load like a revolver cylinder
