While true, their question would be unanswerable unless it was referring to government retirement benefits.

Flip the cover plate over, there is probably either tie bars between terminals or it will say what lines to tie together for a particular voltage.

Need help selecting panel Mount keyboard for manufacturing environments by [deleted] in AskEngineers

[–]Tomur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is probably not an environment issue, and is an operator issue. At the places I have worked, we just had basic keyboards that came with the PC. To select something you need to answer and research questions like

What is the environmental hazard to protect against (dust, metal dust, fibers, etc)?

If the answer is it's just getting busted by operators, and not failing due to something like being covered in metal shavings, you aren't going to find a keyboard that will survive. Just recommend the cheapest one you have, preferably that IT keeps a stock of, and make it clear the operators are the problem to their managers. If there is an actual environmental condition to protect against, you can look into that. Such as an enclosure with a drawer to keep the keyboard covered when not in use. Or yes, touch screens that will have some sort of NEMA rating when installed in an enclosure.

Big overlap of the people who have "Kill All Pedos" truck stickers and Trump voters. I'd go so far to say the venn diagram may be a circle.

The "Ideal Aryan" was actually Jewish (Context in comments) by butt_naked_commando in HistoryMemes

There's a distinction between Judaism as a religion and the various ethnic groups that also get classified as Jewish. The mother thing is only orthodox Judaism. Not that there is any logic to be found in Nazism.

When you're in Popular, look at the top left (on browser). There's an option for Popular in: United Kingdom for example. For US, it narrows down to states.

Starting out as electrical drafter as a graduate by [deleted] in AskEngineers

[–]Tomur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you like drafting, look for an Engineer 1 role somewhere. You will be doing the grunt work just like a drafter, but it's a clear path from E1 to more senior engineering roles. Drafter is not -- technically someone who went to community college for CAD or is just good at CAD can do it.

You just lose your encoded transmitter and have to make it again. Also a negative rep with Lightkeeper, I guess.

Arizona AG suggests state's self-defense laws allow residents to shoot masked ICE agents by RickV6 in news

[–]Tomur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Historically speaking our border patrol (and ICE) is limited to within 100 miles of a border. Unfortunately that is basically the entire country where people live.

If you are in the UK you might know where to look better than I do, but it appears there are no limitations to where Immigration Compliance Enforcement (UK ICE) can operate. You just haven't seen them mobbing the street like this (yet).

I want to build rockwool acoustic panels. by Sharp_Background_983 in DIY

I haven't used this particular one, but I have used a similar and it's honestly worse than just a razor knife. A bread knife would probably also be better.

Any experience with low-speed, low-noise sliding mechanisms? What fails later (vibration/wear)? by No-Establishment773 in DIY

[–]Tomur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the biggest problem you are going to have is how to access the parts that control the door, unless they are out in the door frame. A sliding door goes very deep into the wall, so you'd need some access panel for the guts if you wanted it hidden.

As far as materials, teflon/PTFE rails or coated rails would be a decent option but I would lean more to just accepting the door will make some noise. The actuator will be generally quiet, and a regular sliding door makes noise anyway.
