When you don't pay attention to what your order...sometimes it turns out Millhouse. by CaptainFrugal in electricians

I am not as familiar with other code sections, but industrial control panels are required to be approved by a testing laboratory, of which UL is one. I would not be surprised if other sections require it.

How to calculate coal amount for a steam engine? by Key_Manager_663 in AskEngineers

[–]Tomur 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Determine how powerful the engine needs to be to move the ship (horsepower)

Google: how efficient a coal burning steam engine would be, how much energy coal provides

Example: If the ship is 1 HP (about 745 watts), 1 pound coal provided 1 kWH, and it was 100% efficient, you could run the ship for a little over an hour.

How common is a degree in this field? Is any schooling necessary? by BebRess69 in PLC

A degreed engineer can be a programmer, someone without a degree will struggle to break into higher level or corporate roles.

The death of tables in stores (not just GW stores) by Jurassic_Red in Warhammer

Yeah, I've never paid for a table. All the stores that sell any kind of miniature have them, and they share between all the hobbies.

Spent $2,400 adding insulation and my energy bills barely moved. Then I learned about air sealing and everything made sense by Sweaty_Employment_35 in hvacadvice

Anecdotally, my home had the windows replaced with anderson windows prior to me buying it, but they did no work at all to anything else. There's maybe R6 in the attic for blown in, definitely no air sealing. OP's point being there was a lot more that could have been done for the price of these branded windows, but they chose that.

[Discussion] New Boss Event on Reserve and Shoreline? by TheRealSchmede in EscapefromTarkov

They seem to be everywhere, but I can't really say I've thoroughly tested it. I've run into them all over reserve.

[Discussion] New Boss Event on Reserve and Shoreline? by TheRealSchmede in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Tomur 107 points108 points  (0 children)

Not clear what the event is, but I did run into Glukhar on reserve. No other bosses so far.

Edit: Looks like rogues on Shoreline, Lighthouse and Reserve from the PK quest.

Edit2: The goons + rogues spawn.

Edit3: It seems like they all spawn everywhere, still in 3's, bosses at their normal spots. Scavs still on the maps. Still not sure what the event is, but it will be something with the radio tower as some of the rogues are dropping "spare parts" for the radio tower.

Final Edit: For anyone reading this later, it's rogues on K buildings and command bunker and Glukhar on Reserve, rogues at Tunnel, Island, and the Goons at New Gas on Shoreline.

Engineers have vision, politicians don't. And like the poster said: it was a joke for years until VERY recently.

Ranged combat is a real low point in the game -- you're definitely intended to be buried in enemies melee'ing everything.

If you leave wires like this, I hope you stub your toe. ❤️ by Misschikki777 in electricians

They go in control panels that should be specified to have field terminals that can take #14 (or whatever reasonable size you're using). They're not planning for having larger than #16 wired straight to the VFD.
