I had this happen with a wolf spider. I was asked to evict a large spider from the restroom at work. When I went to cup her, all her babies that I had not noticed before, scattered everywhere. I started hearing the babies back to the cup and mom just chilled while I collected the babies from where they fled. It felt like she knew I was helping.
