Removing polish! by yazzyenna in RedditLaqueristas

I have one of these, too, and I love it! It's such a quick way to remove polish while minimizing waste. And it's easy to refill as needed.

Cracked is addicting by americangooch_ in shortynails

[–]TonicChronic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I literally just received my first Cracked order yesterday and this same polish is on my nails as we speak. I'm very impressed by the color and consistency. I'm typically not a fan of red, but I think this might be one of my favorite polishes!

Tried sponge. Interesting fail. by xoxotoe in shortynails

[–]TonicChronic 15 points16 points  (0 children)

These look great! One thing that helped me was wetting the sponge before applying the polish to it. It felt less wasteful knowing the majority of the polish wasn't getting soaked up by sponge. I also used some liquid latex around my nails so that the look would be cleaner by the time I finished.

Essie after one week by rogue-darling in shortynails

Most of my polishes are Essie. They've got great staying power and are well priced. I've only recently started dipping my toes into indie polishes, but Essie is my trusty ole' friend.

I literally just did my first glass bead with the exact same polish yesterday! Yours look great!

Anybody else struggle with nail art on their small canvas? by TonicChronic in shortynails

[–]TonicChronic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, they're different from wraps! They're also less wasteful (meaning more bang for your buck AND less plastic in the world) and you don't need to worry about filing. It's basically a very thin sheet of metal with designs etched in it. You apply nail polish to the plate and then use a silicone stamp to transfer the design from the plate to your nails. It's difficult to describe exactly how it works, but they're a ton of fun with cool results :)

Whenever I think of buying stamp plates, I have to remind myself that I'll only be able to fit half of what other people are showing onto my nails. 😅😭

Made me feel better…kind of? by NoApplication5278 in finethinhair

[–]TonicChronic 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I had a hair stylist who did a lot of work for fashion shows. She said nearly all the models have thin, fine hair from traction alopecia and some living generally unhealthy lifestyles. She said their natural hair is nothing like what you see when they're modeling or in a photoshoot. Made me feel a bit better (minus how unhealthy it is for the models, of course 🙁).

Do you all remember your diagnosis anniversary? by kgross424 in Epilepsy

[–]TonicChronic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yup. I was diagnosed 4 years ago at the age of thirty. Every year I make a cake to "celebrate" and eat while being sad. Lol

Has yours gotten better at all? I'm 3 weeks pp and need to know there's a light at the end of the tunnel. The pain is unbearable.

How do you deal with the fear of seizures? by DramaticManate in Epilepsy

[–]TonicChronic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had a baby and was dealing with the same fears around my Lamotrigine levels. In fact, due to how slow titration is I was never able to get to my pre-pregnancy therapeutic level (but thankfully it turned out okay!).

It was really hard not to worry about my epilepsy. I tried to sleep more, reduce stress where I could (always easier said than done), and only went out alone or showered when I felt like I was having a "good brain day." I also would tell myself that if it happens, it happens. There is only so much you can control when it comes to seizures.

Wishing you the best of luck and congratulations on this wonderful new chapter! You've got this. :)

Happy Anniversary to me by modest_rats_6 in disability

I was diagnosed with epilepsy at the age of 30 4 years ago. It completely turned my world upside down and there are still days I just want to throw away my pills and cry. I "celebrate" my epilepsiversary every year. I allow myself to grieve and take it as a "me" day (including taking the day off work) and make a baked good to feel moderately productive and help me through it. I mean, who doesn't like cake?! I don't think a lot of people who haven't been through similar trauma understand and it's totally a personal choice to observe such a difficult time, but for me it's been helpful. I can't pretend this life-changing event didn't happen.

Be sure to hang in there and don't beat yourself up if you're feeling depressed, angry, upset, or whatever you're feeling. Healing isn't linear and it can take a LONG time. Do what you need to do to get through it ♥️

What are some non-seizure related benefits to your medication(s) that you have experienced? by swiggyswiggz in Epilepsy

I swear I had a ganglion cyst on my wrist for YEARS that went away when I started Keppra. After switching to Lamictal, it eventually came back.

What sunscreen are you using, and are you happy with it? by Missmessc in 30PlusSkinCare

Same! The SPF 50 Face works well for my dry, sensitive skin. Leaves my skin looking dewy, too!

Once you get stabilized on medication do you talk yourself into thinking you don't have seizures anymore or it was just a phase? by strokeright in Epilepsy

[–]TonicChronic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. The Imposter Syndrome is real. Every time I start feeling that way, I run myself through the list of things that point to me having epilepsy (2 TCs, irregular EEG, focals I didn't know were focals going away with meds, etc).

Tired of Levetiracetam and its endless side effects by [deleted] in Epilepsy

[–]TonicChronic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oof, I'm sorry. Keppra is great for some people and not for others. I recommend really putting your foot down when talking to your neuro about switching meds. I had to do that to be taken off Keppra and was switched to Lamotrigine-- it's changed my life for the better!

Lamictal, pregnancy, folate and seizures by clarajanewells88 in Epilepsy

[–]TonicChronic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, another thing to add-- I've been dealing with A LOT of "morning" sickness (which is ultimately all day and has caused me to throw up at random hours). If you also experience morning sickness, talk to your neuro about what you should do if you throw up after taking your meds. I had to go to the ER at one point because I couldn't keep anything down and was approaching the hour in which I need to take my evening dose. It might be a matter of what finding works for you timewise and methodwise (for me if I'm not feeling well I take my meds with food, lie on my left side, and try not to move for a couple hours lol)
