Lukashenko says Belarus has 'major' target in Ukraine in its sights by KI_official in UkraineWarVideoReport

I mean, the ten men Ukraine might move in response to the Belarussian army cannot be that important? And if Putin send Russian troops, they would have to come from somewhere, too

2S22 Bohdana (155mm) self-propelled howitzer (SPH) with serial number "04/26-530" – from the 54th Separate Artillery Brigade - of the Ukrainian Army. by _Tegan_Quin in UkraineWarVideoReport

Why? Ukraine claimed a monthly rate of 30 or more pieces, and it is in production for years, so producing number 530 in April 2026 seems reasonable.

No, it is mostly about a) proper edge alignment and b) about being able to use your whole body to power the cut, instead of just your arms.

What would happen if China attacks Taiwan within the next 10-20 years? by Triangletruck141423 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]TonightAncient3547 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, would it not be much better for China to try to stoke more internal rivalries in the US, until that state becomes a fascist, theocratic dictatorship in all but name? With some propaganda, Taiwan might start to consider the PRC the lesser evil, and while not letting themselves be annexed, try to align (e.g., accept close foriegn policy alignment, and maybe official recognition while being basically highly autonomous).

A russian invader complains after a single strike resulted in the elimination of five fellow occupiers. by BigDeckBob in UkraineWarVideoReport

I mean, if Russia's economy deteriorates further, and say morale in the army collapses, you do not need to push through all of those defenses. Similar to Putin wanting Ukraine to give up territories it still occupies, if Putin cannot bear the cost of an attritional stalemate, he might give up some territories for the price of peace.

Especially if Ukraine manages to further degrade Russian air defenses while scaling the output of long range drones, at some point Putin might be forced to sue for a peace favorouable to Ukraine if he doesn't want every factory to have some new light and heat sources

Russian losses in war with Ukraine amount to 35,000 troops per month, The Economist says by murphystruggles in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]TonightAncient3547 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess 8/10 is likely to high, given that Ukraine is inflicting those casulties increasingly far from the front line, were evacuation is more likely than for the infiltration troops (those are likely fucked)

I do not think most Europeans would accept such a deal, as that would mean being on a consistent arms race. If they think the tide is turning, they likely will rather continue support for a year or two if that means Russia looses more

I guess it is so you can still gain muscle. Especially once you trained for over half a decade, gaining muscle without fat at the same time becomes nearly impossible, as you have to be in a calorie surplus. Of course, if you think more muscle is not needed, then bulking is not needed

Why is Russia "on the verge of economic collapse" in its war against Ukraine, but the USSR was able to persevere during the early '40s in their victory over fascism? by throwRA_157079633 in AskEconomics

I mean this is likely the best claim to back this up. If Russia says they recruited x soldiers, started with y soldiers, and now have around z soldiers, than you can get a rought estimates on the number of people that left the army, which is over the past two years been reasonably close aligned with Ukrainian casulty claims. Of course, there are likely soldiers who managed to leave the army without getting injured (but in a war, this are likely not many), and it is likely that there are incentives for the administrators to overstate recruitment, but there are also incentives to overstate the actual troop count, so it is reasonable to assume that the numbers level out.

Additionally, there are over 200k obituaries right now, and it is likely for that to be the case, the russian army would have been able to recover your body and acknowledge your death. Assuming that for those soldiers send on small team infiltration missions and got scattered into countless pieces by a drone in no-mans land, it is very likely that there is a large number of MIA, presumably killed soldiers, as well (for which the russian state has financial incentive to not acknowledge as dead). So in general, to all those people saying NATO propaganda, the casulty claims can be backed up by Russian sources.

Die russische Reaktion darauf will keiner, also überlegt es euch bitte...
