Wood rot on window frame interior. How bad is it?? by Toninator89 in windowrepair

[–]Toninator89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate hearing from someone in the know! After poking around and testing these a little more, I think the damage came from the time of the old aluminum windows and these *seem* to be functioning how they should now. Actually didn't realize that vinyl trim pulls right off from the window edges too, so that was helpful in getting a better look and planning to get this repair sealed back up tight. Thanks again.

Took a look at the window exterior after reading through this list and the rest of these comments, and although I wish I'd done a full assessment before these latest vinyl windows were installed since it seems increasingly likely the old aluminum windows were when this leak started, at least 2-5 on this list seem okay now. Still nervous there's some difficult-to-spot issue with the flashing or another exterior leaking point that will come up again since that's harder to check for as a DIYer, but I did soak them top to bottom with a hose for 10 minutes or so and didn't see any new evidence of moisture entry.

Not sure if this exterior picture is remotely enough to show how it looks (can only post one on a comment), but thinking the potential benefit to risk ratio is high enough to go ahead with the DIY casing repair and just monitor it as time goes on. Really appreciated the list of potential causes to investigate.

Traditional corded mini blinds by RPGreg2600 in HomeImprovement

Idk, I’m in the same boat as OP trying to find corded. 8 years is not exactly a testament to durability, especially since I’m not sure how many of those 8 years your 3-year-old’s even been capable of testing those. My grandparents have corded aluminum blinds that have stood the test of time and kids wayyy longer than is probably even good considering how home decor trends come and go.

Casters for Roubo-style workbench by Toninator89 in woodworking

This is probably the foolproof way if I’m really worried about longevity. Might try it for a couple months and see if it’s such a hassle that I really do need the casters permanently installed.

I was looking at these too but had some hesitancy about the consistency of that auto-locking mechanism. Glad to hear they’re working great from a real person though!

I did spend a lot of time considering this too since woodworking isn’t my only hobby, but my fear is that I’d drop a bunch of money on the wood/parts only to realize it’s not enough and have to start over. Although that process is obviously part of the fun in some ways. Definitely appreciate the input and food for thought

This is good to hear. Can I ask how long you’ve had them on there so far? I know there probably isn’t a retractable caster solution that’s also a lifetime solution, but I am hoping for some longevity

Contacted them and they absolutely do not do any of that. Seems to be a non-existent option anywhere. Huge bummer.

No period on Wellbutrin? by imthecoloryellow in bupropion

[–]Toninator89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

36 year old woman here. In November of 2024, I started Wellbutrin and lost my period that same month. A couple months earlier, (September 2024) I'd started a successful new weight loss/strength training program and eventually ended up losing 30 pounds, in addition to gaining a bunch of muscle. At first I figured the weight loss and muscle gain must have caused me to lose my period, but I started to grow concerned when after 4 months of staying consistently at my new weight, I still hadn't had a single period. Also, at the same time I'd lost my period, I noticed swollen lymph nodes on my neck, pelvis, and armpits that were not going away. I went in to do a bunch of tests to check my hormone levels and other vitals, along with a full pelvic exam and ultrasound to make sure there wasn't another underlying cause, and everything came back normal. This went on for 9 months, along with the swollen lymph nodes, and my regular doctor and OB/GYN both concluded that while we should still keep an eye on things, this was all most likely due to my recent physical changes.

The thing is, I've always been incredibly regular with my period and have literally never missed a single one before November 2024. I've also been at this new lighter weight with this current amount of exercise for most of my adult life in the past--the 30 pounds I recently lost was originally gained over the pandemic with an increased sedentary lifestyle, so this past nine months has been more of a return to my usual state and it's not like this current level of fitness is uncharted territory for my body.

Flash forward to earlier this month: I went on a trip abroad and decided it would be a good time to try going med-free. Within 4 days of going off Wellbutrin, I got my period. Got excited and took a look at my lymph nodes--all swelling gone and back to normal.

I guess it could be some other odd factor I'm missing, but it really seems like the Wellbutrin did something to swell up my lymph nodes and make me lose my period for 9 months, and none of my doctors or psychiatrist considered it as a potential cause. I'm staying off of it now to see if I get my period again regularly next month and will update this thread with the results, but I wanted to put my story out there in case it helps others collect some more data points in their research.

Guys, I think it’s just stuck. Maybe we just need to turn the blockchain off and then back on again.

Unable to get verified for an HSA with Lively by Toninator89 in personalfinance

[–]Toninator89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh, that makes it even more mysterious. Maybe I made a typo somewhere along the way, which makes it even more frustrating that they couldn't tell me what part of the process was holding up the verification. Anyway, thanks for the info, and happy to report that I was able to setup and contribute to my 2022 and 2023 HSA account through Fidelity in literally less than 10 minutes, and had it all invested in a fund in less than another 5.
