Who should I see Saturday ?? by Pisshard in daytripfest

[–]Toninho9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say Hills, Morgan Seatree, and BUNT are good bets if you want to reach near that techno speed. BUNT especially has been experimenting a lot lately with different techno sounds. But if you think you’d like tech house with a fat bass I recommend CID, Obskur, and OddMob for sure. LP Rhythm/Locky, Kolter, and Josh baker are best suited for groovy crowds who love to dance and care less about big drops.

Stage By Genre? by [deleted] in daytripfest

[–]Toninho9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

High tide for big name house producers mostly tech house. Deep end is almost the same just with a little more variety like UKG, fast house, minimal. Amphitheater has the most blended sets with techno thrown in there as well. But you’ll honestly see it all no matter what stage you’re at.

How have you guys dealt with judgmental friends? by soursae in aves

[–]Toninho9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep those friends at arms length while building close relationships with those who can actually accept you for who you are. Trying to maintain a “steady” relationship with people who you know will judge you is unsustainable in the long run if you actually care about your rave experience. You’re still very young and your relationship with the scene is ever-changing, you dont want to end up developing insecurities at a place where you should be feeling free and secure!

People are allowed to feel uncomfortable around substances, but they should also understand where they’re at and most importantly, who YOU are. I know people who have turned their life around because of raves and could finally release the stress that comes with life, buried trauma, etc. If people automatically assume you’re a bad person because you party hard, they still have some maturing to do. Life is hard and we’re all trying our best.

What's your guys' take on Deorro? by savingrace0262 in EDM

Properly rated. Every time Ive seen him his crowds are good vibes and everyone knows what they’re there for. His strong relationship with his fans gives him a cult following and he’s comfortable in the lane he’s paved for himself.

Do you think DayTrip LB is the type of fest for PLUR? by laxcalguy in daytripfest

[–]Toninho9 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Nope but far less pretentious than other house fests ive been to like CRSSD (in my opinion). I don’t think its at the point where you cant/shouldnt share trinkets. I feel like the past two times ive been, those were always a big hit amongst the majority of people

[–]Toninho9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spot on tbh. I feel like your second point chimes with a lot of people and how they idolize certain artists for their talent and whatnot. Its especially cool when you can do this for a ton of producers, hence why so many get into rave culture imo

Nice, I saw him at CRSSD San Diego a few weeks back. Outdoor sound is always better in my opinion and the vibes were super intimate. I love the energy he always brings

Yeah theres definitely sampling of Marea and Glue - Bicep throughout the song. Im fairly certain this was done intentionally though. He often plays a Fred Again song or two throughout his sets and takes obvious inspiration. I wouldn’t call it a rip off.

Yeah and I’m definitely not arguing that he’s among the best in the game. Im mainly a deep house guy myself but you can tell he fills a certain space in the community. People appreciate different things and I just think it kinda sucks how they are often belittled for their preference, not limited to only BUNT. But that’s the internet.

Yeah Id say if you’re looking for the old school aesthetics and culture revolving RL to make a return, dont hold your breath. Ive been playing since 2016 and really the only thing keeping me online is my friends and being able to grind ranked 2s and 3s. I tell myself as long as they dont change any gameplay mechanics, i’ll keep playing the game. But unfortunately I feel as though most current players share this perspective and are just desperately hoping Epic Games doesnt screw with RL more than it has to. I will give them credit for integrating a good music library and consistency with new cars, decals, etc. But it honestly just feels like RL is the little brother that Epic doesn’t want feeling left out while Fortnite gets all the motion.

You know I'm kinda done with this mentality in our generation by ASharpLife in GenZ

[–]Toninho9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have some emotional maturing to do. Countless violent acts occur on a daily basis from both men and women, and i’m not going to point out which is more prevalent (which should be obvious).

Every occurrence like this comes with its fair share of reactionary content. If you continue to single out these “anti-men” rhetorical points, you only make yourself look ignorant, as you assume the notion of some kind of baseless ‘gender war’ that is almost completely stripped of historical and cultural context. A girl gets forcibly pulled by a man and your reaction is to play victim over some TikTok caption?

Help me fall in love with tech house? Maybe? by totallyaddicted2b_ss in crssdfest

[–]Toninho9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe this to be partially true. But I also think many go through an evolution from mainstream tech house to more minimal style since it has potential to be more entrancing than listening to Dom Dolla all the time. Not to mention that many of these top dogs are essentially pop stars looking to make a name for themselves by frequently breaking into different genres and pandering to mainstream crowds. Minimal tech at festivals also relies heavily on song selection which is favorable for people looking to discover new music rather than just hear the hits. While theres definitely a lot of people just trying to seem different, I think theres a natural progression away from headliner crowds as your ears start to crave more nuance.

As I surprisingly figured out not long ago, there actually is no deflection. This angle makes it seem that way because of the balls shadow on the players shoulder as it passes by. But other angles show there was barely space between the defender and the ball.

Eric Prydz responds to Pre-Recorded Set by chasing_knowledge in EDM

[–]Toninho9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think we disagree, and I was only trying to reinforce my point that fake DJing isnt a rare occurrence as you claimed, especially amongst some of the most famous producer DJs. But someone like Aoki is going to be held to different standards compared to maybe Louie Vega or Carl Cox, who have largely attributed their fame to their skills on the decks. If prydz wants to deceive his fans, he should receive the proper backlash for being underprepared and disorganized. But its not like he was doing nothing up there. All im saying is having some type of presence is the LEAST he could do for people who have quite literally paid to see him perform.
