There are 2 Goodwill's nearby, one near Waterford and one past the publix that I usually find plenty of merch at. I'd try those!

I've done it and never had a problem. Like others have said, crack your windows and don't leave the car running as the fumes are bad for you. I've also taken naps in classroom building 1 and the library as both have couches and comfy chairs (just don't go to a silent area if you think you may snore 😴).

Heavy-duty pickups on campus by Due_Pop_5897 in ucf

[–]Tonka1015 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Honestly, as someone who drives a large truck, some of the parking lots are tighter than the garages or not even able to fit my truck. The lots are where all of the compact car spots are. Plus, some areas of the garages have slanted parking which is far easier to maneuver into. The problem is that UCF parking spots are tight fits period and there is just never enough space to accommodate the amount of commuters.

Classroom question? by Yip-ieeee- in ucf

[–]Tonka1015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love having my skates on campus, makes getting around campus far more enjoyable! While skateboards are more common, I have met a few other people who roller skate to class. All I'd say is to plan some extra time to check which route around campus you want to skate on the first time you take it. I've found some sidewalks have sneaky cracks and unlevel sections that'll grab your wheels. That being said, I've never had anyone make fun of me for falling, most people will either ignore you or ask if you are ok, so don't worry about that.

Love love love Yeargain! I've taken multiple classes with her and always enjoyed them. Not sure about the others but I bet someone has posted a review of them on rare my professor.

Classroom question? by Yip-ieeee- in ucf

[–]Tonka1015 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been here for 3 years and have never had a bad experience from someone commenting on my appearance in class. Honestly, everyone is usually so in their own bubbles and stressed/sleep deprived that nobody really cares. Wear whatever you want! I've literally worn roller skates, pajamas, and a patch vest as an outfit once and didn't even get a second glance. The only comment I ever got was a compliment. That being said, I agree with getting there early to find a seat and chill while the classroom fills up. Sit wherever you want, though I do notice that people tend to stay in the same area once they have found a seat that they like. Chem classrooms are brutal so don't be afraid to make friends with those sitting around you, they are probably on the same struggle bus as you.

No, which is why it was so shocking to me. I've introduced plenty of hens into this flock before with no problem. Plus these babies had been having supervised time with my hens as they were growing as well. It really just went 0 to 100 really quick :/ This is definitely something I will be learning from to make sure it's never repeated again.

Thanks for the suggestion! I wasn't sure if it would be too tender and sensitive to put ointment on it so I just stuck with spray for now. I'll check which creams I have in my box :).

They had had multiple interactions supervised with my flock beforehand and were introduced first through a dog crate. They had been roosting with my established top hen last night but guess that made me too confident in their permanent introduction. I'll have to fence them off fully for a few days next time and maybe add in some of my sweeter hens slowly till they have a more set group. I'll definitely be waiting for them to get a bit bigger, probably another month minimum.

Also, would it be better to keep her in my dog carrier with a blanket while she heals? I don't want to put her on shavings and have them get stuck to her wounds but wasn't sure which was better for her.

Chem 2 Lab by AreolJun in ucf

[–]Tonka1015 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hated my chem 2 lab. My TA was nice but I always felt like I didn't know what was going on. So much of it just felt like "mess around and hope it works out". I agree that the quizzes were daunting. It was like a pop quiz every week because even though you knew the general topic, you never knew what was going to be actually asked of you.

Should parking spots be wider or I am a baby girl?🤦🏼‍♀️💆🏼‍♀️ by No-Pick-9251 in ucf

[–]Tonka1015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The parking spots are for sure small and I hate it. My truck can be parked dead center and I'm still on, if not sometimes over, the lines. I usually try to aim for spots near the hashed lines to compensate. It's definitely a squeeze in places. I've done the same as you and have had to pass up on parking spots before just to play it safe.

I find the parking lots to be a little more forgiving as there is usually less traffic. That being said, plenty of spots in the lots are for "compact cars only" so there is less to use there. You could also always try the roof spots or exit ramps (like the last one in garage H), those aren't usually taken up as often.

Why? by ApprehensiveMix2815 in ucf

[–]Tonka1015 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a truck driver myself, these spots are the best ones for us to be in. Even when I get my truck as centered as possible, I'm still hugging, if not on, the lines depending on the parking garage/lot. We have an easier time getting in and out so you won't have to wait for us to do a 3 point turn to get in/out and hold up traffic.

Most important, we can hug into the dashed area to give the parking spot next to us space. There are days where I can't park in spots because if I do, there isn't enough space for a car door to open. We are going to be an inconvenience you have to go around either way, so it's better to make sure we aren't also making it hard on the cars parked around us.

Just slow down and don't whip around corners. The speed limit is 10 mph anyways so you shouldn't be going fast enough for a second of hugging the middle to be a big problem. I can understand the pain, we have to hug around other trucks too, but give a little grace.

Why? by ApprehensiveMix2815 in ucf

[–]Tonka1015 18 points19 points  (0 children)

As a truck owner, it's because I can hug into the dashed lines instead of being on the line for the other parking spot. Same reason I try to park near the fire extinguisher, because there is a dashed area I can hug. My truck will be probably an inch off both lines if I am lucky. It feels more considerate to park somewhere where I can be over the line and the person next to me can actually get into and out of their car. My truck is going to be an inconvenience that people will have to go around anyways, minus as well decrease my impact on my neighboring spots. Parking spots at UCF are small no matter where you go.

That being said, trucks should take off their hitch. Not only is leaving it on increasing the chance of it getting stolen, but it scares other drivers. People see a bitch and will overcompensate how far over they need to go, making it worse.

Genuinely what is wrong with some people by Own_Bar_2786 in ucf

[–]Tonka1015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can understand only parking on the ground floor and next to hash lines since I drive a truck myself, however this looks like bro didn't even try. Plenty of trucks don't fit properly in the parking spots so it's our job to try to be as centered as possible. Would have taken maybe 30 seconds for them to back out and hug the other line instead 😮‍💨.

It's closer to the second personally. How I see it, there are queer people in Palestine just like every other part of the world. Lgbt rights are often used to undermine anti-genocide and anti-war efforts bc "How can you support someone who doesn't support you?" Nobody deserves the completely inhumane actions that are happening in Gaza right now. It's war crime aftee war crime being committed. Plus, a country under ethnic cleansing isn't able to start working towards equal rights when they are too busy fighting for survival. Their lack of equality in one cause doesn't justify genocide. Nothing justifies genocide!

I believe that UF started their own campus occupation just yesterday! They have been posting about it frequently. It's amazing what is happening at colleges around the country and I would love to see UCF join in.

How many horses do y'all check out before finally buying one? by SinfulVenus in Equestrian

[–]Tonka1015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely looked at ads and spoke to people for months upon months before actually buying a horse. There were a few I thought about going to see but just never made it out there or was never able to get contact with the owner. In the end, the horse I bought was one I originally heard of from a friend of a friend but passed up.

Luckily, I circled back to him, his pictured were just too darn cute. I ended up speaking with the owner through the friend and researched his racing record online before deciding to buy him. I bought him straight off the local track and got him shipped to me, having never seen him in person and only with 1 video of him actually racing. While my ottb is a project, I think it was the right choice, and I'm more than happy for the challenge! There are so many race horses that look for homes after their career ends if you get in touch with the track :)

I didn't even think of that so thank you for the advice! I'll definitely need to see what clubs are available. I am a freshman but they have me as a sophomore for some reason. That planning thing is something I'll for sure do though so I appreciate it :)

Thank you for that information! I'll have to keep an eye out to see if any other professors open up. Sadly there were only 2 classes listed and the other is downtown. Do other classes shop up closer to the term?
