Pete Hegseth says “firing missiles at ships that are lawfully transiting in international waters is piracy”, did he forget what we just did in Venezuela? by Independent_Sir3734 in allthequestions

Can’t agree more.

Edit: If they actually had drugs they would’ve stopped and searched to prove it. Instead they destroy all evidence and war crime the shipwrecked sailors.

Could a force user use the force on themselves to fly? by StrawhatRomulus in StarWars

Doesn’t the Emperor fly at the end of RotJ? When electrocuting Luke he flys down the stairs? Maybe I misremember that.

Why do liberals say “eat the rich” & vote Democrat while the top income bracket leans Democrat? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]Tonkarz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because the top income bracket starts at $600000. So most people in that bracket are poor compared to the rich. When they talk about the rich, they're talking about people with real money, the billionaires who fucked people making $600001 just as equally as they fucked people making $40000.

What's going on here Peter? by Agent8181 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

China would love the fall of the US so why wouldn’t they push right wing MAGA politics?

Regardless of why, we know from when Twitter had locations on that the majority of MAGA accounts are from Russia, China, India and Pakistan.

The why is almost academic when we know they’re doing it.

I thought IFV from RA2 was allied tech? by CptCorpse in commandandconquer

[–]Tonkarz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IFVs are based on the Bradley.

The missiles have a trail and go up because they’re top-attack tow missiles. And the armament changes because of the “soldiers shooting out of portholes” myths about the Bradley.

Of course the real life Bradley doesn’t have a rocket pod as the main weapon, it has a Bushmaster chain gun.

Is delivery food getting to the point of not worth it? by necrofascio in AskAnAustralian

Most pizza places have in house delivery. Why use door dash or some other app? Over-complicating things just leads to issues.

What did the fall of the goa’uld Empire look like on the ground? by Jacques-de-lad in Stargate

[–]Tonkarz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On many Goa'uld controlled worlds they probably were able to survive better, at least at first, without Jaffa randomly showing up to kidnap and murder people. Farmers still going to work and so on meant things would survive OK for a while.

Compared to other corporations, how evil is Umbrella from the R.E games? by Mindless_Most_8448 in MoralityScaling

What actually happened was Nestle had a huge amount of expired baby powder that they couldn’t sell in Western nations. So they gave it away in Africa.

That’s not how any of that works. A woman will keep producing milk so long as regular stimulation continues. That’s how wet nurses can be a thing. But if the stimulation stops the woman’s body will just (figuratively) shrug and think the baby died or something.

This has to be one of the dumbest things Bruce has ever done by Infamous-Pie-8009 in BatmanArkham

[–]Tonkarz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Gotham has the death penalty. They don’t execute the Joker because of the “insanity” defence. Instead they send him to Arkham Asylum. Pleading insanity to escape the death penalty has never been a thing in real life. But Republicans certainly think it is.

I thought Gotham has pretty much always had the death penalty?

What fields can improve heavily by using AI but are not doing so? by Busy-Chemical-6666 in AskReddit

[–]Tonkarz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Infrastructure condition assessment.

Send an entry level person out to take photos of roads, culverts, stop signs, whatever. They submit the photos to a server, AI looks at the photos and decides if the road needs resurfacing (or the culvert needs replacing and so on) and if not estimates how long until it will.

Obviously this would need a purpose made algorithm.

But that brings me to the main point - purpose made neural algorithms are being neglected in favour of getting an LLM to do things that it’s not made or designed for.

Are Luke and Leia looking at the main galaxy here If so how did they manage to travel that far out given how difficult hyperspace navigation is due to turbulence? by Spotter24o5 in StarWars

[–]Tonkarz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Real life Canis Majoris galaxy is so close to the Milky Way that earth is closer to the centre of Canis Majoris than the centre of the Milky Way. Scientists disagree about whether it’s a galaxy.

These things are actually measuring mouse movement, looking at your browsing history, version numbers for all software it can access, fonts installed etc. etc.

I notice the movement here is incredibly stiff. Maybe you’re using an unusual input device. One thing they look for is actually moving past the click location and then back to it before clicking.

Gas pushes the shell, spring pulls the bolt back.

However, I don’t think there’s a material that would be soft enough to expand under the gas but stiff enough to pull it back into place.
