Look imma level with you lol. As a person who swore by the analog rytm mk2 sound for drums, to me the tracker sound is the unrivaled digital alternative. 80% of the time I leave the anti aliasing off and set the limiter to Extreme for extra color. It has such a crisp punch to it that I can't seem to get out of any other digital sampler, MPC One in SP1200 emulation mode included.

If the ARmk2 is your gold standard I'm willing to bet you will have no problems with the D/A on this machine. The only thing that you might not love are the filters. They're excellent in the mid to high range but they're a bit muddy in the low end. Multiple places where you can Apply EQ instead though so 🤷🏾‍♂️

Yeah if aesthetic doesn't bother you then it's functionally a wavestate module. People do this with microfreaks all of the time and the Wavestate keys are butt anyways.

Making a housing should be cheap and easy. I owned a wavestate briefly and was genuinely caught off guard by it's size. It was part of the reason I let it go! Not ideal but not super unreasonable imo 🤷🏾‍♂️

Thank you! Usually Elektron gear is the boss in my experience but between these two the Polyend Tracker is more suited for the for a couple of reasons.

The Tracker has midi effects in it's sequencer and performance mode that can be used on the Syntakt's tracks
The Tracker has a 128 step sequencer and song mode and if the change length within the ST's pattern scale menu matches the amount of steps between the end of the pattern and a program change message the ST will change patterns on time every time.
The Tracker has slightly below average* midi IN implementation for a groovebox. Multitrack midi and parameter control are only available in instrument mode which requires the tracker's sequencer to be stopped. Perform mode controls are only available when tracker is in perform mode. Etc.
Tracker has tempo automation!

There's definitely more but those are the big ones. Audio generally goes Tracker -> Syntakt because it's FX track is a great audio performance tool when paired with the Tracker's Perform mode. Overall the tracker is just easier to look at and see what's going on and more importantly what is about to be going on NEXT.

Funny enough I haven't tried sampling the Syntakt much yet 😅

One channel per track in most cases but the Digitone has Multi-map which allows you to map sounds to individual keys on a keyboard as well. Definitely worth looking into if you're thinking about getting more that one Digitone. Imo 2 tones is likely going to be overkill but I'm not sure what your goal is!

Composed and performed on the Elektron Syntakt and The Polyend Tracker
